Hello,

I have a 13 inch early 2011 mbp. It used to run alot smoother but performance has started degrading quite noticeably lately. It runs smooth and fast for about 5 or 10 minutes after a reboot, but son after will start to act very slow. I've seen other mbps and even mbs that don't scroll as choppy as mine, when mine has an i7... :(

I tried resetting the system managment controller (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964), but that has been no help. Would reinstalling OSX help? I mean this computer should be really fast, But it can stutter playing 720p youtube videos when nothing but the browser is open...

It sounds like there is some other process running in the background.

Open Activity Monitor (in /Applications/Utilities/), set it to show "All Processes", and look through the list to see what else might be using CPU resources.

Nothing wrong with it now but I would suggest ditching chrome for safari as it's faster and uses less resources.

The other thing you can do is download onyx and do a full system cleanup from it.
