How about the online apple store

There is no official apple store. If there is any dealer that can do three days, and will answer the phone, then sold!

1. Tech@Vogue MNl - Three weeks.
2. Istudio - Not interested in getting me an 8Gb model.
3. Epic Center - Refuses to return calls.
4. Newstead - Site is down.
5. Courts - Portable devices only
6. Newstead again - Site is down.
7. MC2@Funan - Portable devices only

Only three, of the above, carry anything but portable devices.

I just noticed that there are more locations for most of the dealers.

I will keep trying later. Cannot be messing around on the phone right now.

The reason everyone is confused is that you don't need a reseller you can order exactly what you want on the Apple Singapore shop and get it delivered in three days direct from apple!!!!

I will trek on over Saturday with cash in hand.

I just heard back from the first Epicenter. I had emailed them twice and called once. They also quoted three weeks if I still want the 1.7 ghz chip, and 8gb of memory.

Trek over to where?!?

There is no physical Apple Store in Singapore.

You want a non-standard configuration, and generally resellers will not carry anything other than the stock configs.

If you order from a reseller they will effectively be ordering the laptop from Apple, so why not cut out the middle man and order it from Apple yourself?

The Singapore web store will ship a 1.7GHz / 8GB RAM / 256GB flash 11" MacBook Air to your door for S$1,838 with a 1–3 day lead time.

"Available to ship in 1-3 days" still means 3-4 weeks. Promised dates mean nothing. Customs clearance alone takes almost a week.

All Asian countries fiercely protect the local business(resellers, and franchises), and strongly discourage American sellers from getting a foothold when possible.

The same is true in most Asian countries. I did not emigrate from the USA for shopping oportunities. I am here because income tax is low, and there is no such thing as being politically correct.

Three or four weeks? Will it be travelling overland, like the Imperial Japanese Army?

Given that it's evident that there are no 1.7GHz / 8GB RAM / 256GB configurations sitting in a Singaporean warehouse, your quickest and most readily trackable purchase option is via the Apple Store.

What makes you think Apple doesn't already have the model you want in Singapore already? i.e., it might not have to clear customs.

To be honest the lack of interest on the behalf of the resellers is not impressing me at all. Four days to get back to me is not good. I expect that sort of thing in the USA, but seldom do I encounter it in Singapore. In Singapore they tend to be slow or ignore you if you have a warrantee problem, but seldom behave that way before they have your money.

In the morning, I can try the store. I am using my iZpad at the moment.

The Apple store claim they use a currier for delivery, so maybe they dispatch from a warehouse.

Funny dude. How about 25 instances, and a window showing Burmese belly dancers holding snakes?

Need your Linux server maintained? I am available 4 hire. :D

That is assuming my wife will let me use my macbook. She has her own iPad, and Windows laptop so she does not need it.

I just received my DHL shipping notice. It is shipping out of China? I wonder how they handle customs?

Maybe pre-loaded with spyware! [joke]
