Smart battery case and iPhone 8

It will fit, if you're worried go to an apple store and try it on your phone once you get it
It should fit either phone but you may not be able to wirelessly charge. That is why I don't think they list it as compatible.
It will physically fit in the iPhone 7 battery case, but it likely won't work with iOS.
I have an iPhone 6S and an iPhone 7. My iPhone 7 battery case works fine with my 7, but when I put the 6S in there it it refuses to recognize it even though it still charges. It won't show the 2nd battery meter. Apple's put some sort of check in place.

Dang, thats a dealbreaker for me. I dont care at all about wireless charging, and the smart battery case is what makes the 7 (imo) the best iphone, since the battery life sucks without it, and i think the + is just too damn big to use comfortably. If it won’t work with the 8, then there’s no way i can upgrade, as the stock battery life is way too short for my usage.

I agree completely and that's why I'm sticking with my iPhone 7 for another year.
Can someone give this a try today? Holding back on getting the 8 because I want to know if the battery case will work.

As soon as I get my phone today I will try it. It should work no issues I was told by people at the Apple Store. As far as the battery meter, that should also work. I'll be shocked if it doesn't work properly.
Don't know yet, I'll try it as soon as I get my phone, but still waiting on UPS and haven't seen a truck all day yet and I live in a major city.
Same here. Going tk determine whether i get a phone now or wait for the 2nd gen X next year
Yes the battery case works perfect with the iPhone 8. I put it on before I even turned the phone on and it showed both the phone & case battery.

Makes my decisions so much harder now... do I keep the 7+ that I got a good deal on that arrives Monday, keep my preorder for my 8+ that is due today, or try to find a regular 8 with a Smart Battery Case...

Went to Apple this morning and purchased the 7 smart/battery case for my newly purchased 8 and it fits like a glove. Thanks OP for the intel - SUPER helpful!!!
The battery case will not work with wireless charging . I took it out of the case and it works perfect on a wireless charging pad. Also tested battery case without phone and wireless charger battery case does not have built-in wireless charging just to try it LOL
I'll bet Apple will release a wireless charging Smart Battery case for the iPhone 8. Totally would make sense.
