I really doubt it. I don’t think Apple would miss that detail.I have a bad feeling there are going to be a lot of iPad Pros slipping out of the portfolio case. I don’t trust the magnets locking the back of the cover in place. Recipe for disaster, especially with the premium price of these bad boys. COVER-GATE coming soon.
Guess it all depends on all those magnets.I really doubt it. I don’t think Apple would miss that detail.
All 102 of them.Guess it all depends on all those magnets.
Nah, their magnets are strong!! Don’t for one minute expect iPads falling out all over the place. With the Air 2, you can hang it by the Smart Cover and then dance around and it still won’t come loose on its own, and that’s just a magnetized edge, not the entire back of the device.Nah, their magnets are strong!! I love the leather versions, but I hate how they start looking over time. The non-leather covers are so durable--I don't think I've ever even damaged one.Anyone else not like the feel of this cover? I just got it and I think I’ll be returning it. Would like a leather version.

This is the second comment like this I've seen now, and I don't know what to believe anymore--is the new cover less rubbery than the old one? The old Smart Covers/Apple Smart Keyboards had a grippy, rubbery feel to them. Are the new ones less like that? I've had some people tell me yes, and some people tell me no.Leather would be my choice. Had one for my 9.7 and it really broke in nicely along the folds. Comparing my 10.5's keyboard cover to my new 2018 12.9's (folio only cover) the 10.5's cover feels more rubbery.
Maybe it isn't a fair comparison between a 10.5 keyboard style cover and the new 12.5 folio? But I have to say I like the rubbery feel the 10.5 keyboard cover over the new folio.
Does AppleCare cover, covers?

I will never forget the day I got my first ever Apple brand leather iPhone case on my iPhone 7 Plus (saddle brown)--I got it in the morning and then we went on a road trip that same day to visit my family. I was taking a picture of my 1 yr old niece and she reached out at my phone and put a giant fingernail scratch right down the center of the case. I was heartbroken.I like the weathered "beaten-up" look. Fits my persona betterLeather folios/cases generally probably weigh more and do take some maintenance.
It seems exactly the same as the smartcover in my Air 2. (Referring to the folio. I don’t have the keyboard folio yet)This is the second comment like this I've seen now, and I don't know what to believe anymore--is the new cover less rubbery than the old one? Yeah, I always kept mine super clean too--I don't like fingerprints and smudges all over everything. But the great thing about those neoprene covers is that they wipe clean and look like new again.Well my 10.5 keyboard style cover is about a year old and has less shine than the just purchased non-keyboard 12.9 folio only. Maybe it is just wear, I do keep the 10.5 clean BTWHeck if the new one functions and wears well it probably won't make a big difference between new and old.
Dont drop it. I'm not sure how anyone could drop a tablet. Phones I can see but the use cases are much different.

As suspected the 10.5” Smart Cover nowhere near is useable with the new iPad. Sticking with the folio but hate the back covered (unnecessarily) and hate the boring colour!!Cool. Could you please let me know if the 10.5 works or not once u have your iPad? Thanks
Folio is nice, I just appreciate seeing the back of the iPad and the Folio is boring in that sense since it's a blank back (not even the apple logo)

Any which way it’s just not right. There aren’t any magnets in the 10.5” Smart Cover on the bit that would attach to the iPad so it’s a no-go.Did you try using it in the opposite way, meaning where the smart pencil is suppose to connect?

The folio case is fine but I hate the colour and the extra weight but it’s still nice enough. I’m just a tad grumpy that it’s not just the iPad we pay for but the accessories.
Having said that my lovely 10.5” leather pouch from last year is still perfect and the new pencil is perfect in its slot also![]()
HOw are you guys feeling the new iPad Smart Cover. I feel like the case adds significant amount of weight to the iPad.
Not sure if it exits yet but anyone knows if you can get just the screen cover like on the previous model?
So far at home I prefer the iPad Pro without the folio while it is in hand. At home I’m only worried about scratching the back. I’d love to see a magnetic back cover so I could easily change between the Apple folio and keyboard folio. I’d consider a skin, but I’m thinking it might interfere with the magnets when using folios on top of it.
