I don't always have my ipad with me. I always have my iphone with me. Always.

Ditto!

My iphone is my primary, well ONLY phone. It goes with me wherever I go. To carry an iPad around (for me) would just be ridiculous, whatever would I do with it? I don't go out and sit in coffee shops, I cant take it to work, if I am waiting in lines I prefer something small that I can just jam in a pocket quick when I am called. An example is I went to the movies the other night, a bit early to get a good seat. I have a small purse. I used my phone to entertain me til it started, I would have felt stupid toting an iPad or ANY pad in with me. If I go out shopping, I don't want to tow along a heavy tech item with me. Heavy being compared to a phone.

If you don't leave the house much the iPad would be a great go to device.

Ipad and dumbphone

Hi,

I gave up my smartphone weeks ago. I bought a Nokia E52 ( Dumb phone ).
Nokia E52 have everything I need on the go. - spotify / Email / internet radio / FM radio / wifi / skype over 3g / Voip over 3g...

Why do I change ? Well Nokia E52 have exceptional battery life. It has been observed that the 5.5 Watt-Hour, 1500 mAh, 3.7 V battery can easily last 27 days of practical use.
This is considerably higher than other phones in its class made by Nokia and other manufacturers. If WiFi, Bluetooth are used and built-in VOIP client is active, the battery will last about 24 hours.

My smartphone do not fix 8 hours of heavy use.

Rest of the time I use my Ipad 3gen.

After hooking up my iPad to AT&T I'm starting to use it more then my Galaxy Note unless I need to hit up p2p4u and watch some sports via live stream or a ppv.

Mannn... If apple gave in and ran flash holy **** it'd be over RIP Android.

I'd just go back to a dumb phone and just roll with the iPad.

My iPhone's not redundant but I certainly use it far less. I was planning on buying whatever the next incarceration of iPhone maybe however, as I now only really use it for calls, as an alarm clock, and occasionally checking emails am not sure I will. Very much like the iPad!

iPhone is purely (for the most part) a communication device, i.e. calls, SMS, emails, etc. The iPad is more for entertainment purposes then communication. I prefer using the iPad for emails simply due to the larger screen/bigger keyboard however I don't believe it's redundant for the uses I have for it.

I have a MacBook, iPad, and iPhone, and each of them is used frequently. It depends on how deep I'm going with whatever the current task is. If I'm working and need full access to everything, I use the MacBook. If it's less serious and requires detail (sitting at home checking email, watching videos, general overview work stuff), I'll opt for the iPad. If I'm out somewhere, my iPhone can still get most of the jobs done pretty well. Not as fast, but it takes care of business. So, I have a place for all of them. Could I get by with or without 1 or more of them? Sure. However, it's nice to have options. *20 years ago, this thread wouldn't have existed...

I prefer my iPad over the 4s for:

Email
Web Browsing.
Note taking
Any video based media.

Some of it is all about the larger screen, the rest the speed of LTE.

The phone is now used primarily for SMS, Camera, pod casts and a backup to the iPad.

of course, but the point of the iphone is so you can take it with you everywhere.
i personally dont like bringing my ipad with me everywhere.

Even 10 years ago too

Smartphones win over tablets in terms of convenience, physical size, and mobility. It fills the gap and space where and when a tablet/desktop/laptop is not feasible to satisfy your online needs. But what I find is over time slowly I use less and less of the "smart" features of a smartphone and focus mainly on voice interaction aspect of the phone (skype and tango), and rely on my ipad/imac for a much more pleasant experience for the web/email/social aspects.
