I would say definitely have a look at the Wii version then. The single player part is ace.

Yeah, I did like that. It reminded me of Streets of Rage in co-op, or the closest we've got to it in years.

Equally I like Smash Run on the 3DS. It's become my go-to mode because it's great at seeing+getting lots of content and is also pretty good in multiplayer.

My copy of Smash just got dispatched today so I'm hoping I'll get it tomorrow :) along with all the goodies I ordered for it; Official Smash Bros GC controller, PDP GC-style classic controller, Hori GC-style classic controller, Pikachu and Marth Amiibos.

Hate to say it but ......

I am really disliking Super Smash Bros on Wii U. Its leaves me baffled 99% of the time.

I still can't work out how scoring works, often after s battle I'm just left confused at the outcome / placement.

Trophy / stage mode on the board is bewildering as I have not a clue what is going on.

And I just can't see the depth in two button mashing and a jump button.

The whole game is wrecking my head and my dislike is turning to hate the more I play...

I really want to like it, to 'get it', but I fail every time I boot up my wii u.

The lack of training modes or explanation for the chaos makes it near impenetrable.

Ha, me too but I adore the series. I live with someone who is equally into it so we're either competing or tackling the co-op modes. I can't play it solo and online still isn't as good. Same with Mario Kart or any game like that - I'll play solo to unlock stuff but never for the bulk of play.

I didn't understand that board game mode either. Took ages to get to grips with it and I still don't know how some things work.

I've been thinking of why I love Smash and not Playstation All Stars. There's a soul in Smash, everythings quick and dynamic. You can smash people off with low health if your character is strong enough and you're quick+smart enough. But I find it very hard to pin down what I do love about it, I think it's just pure fun to play with a much lower barrier of entry to play than something like Street Fighter or Tekken (that requires memorisation of combos) but still rewards skill in remembering attacks and when to perform them.

I love the Amiibo stuff too. Honestly wasn't happy with their announcement but raising them ingame and then being beaten senselessly by them... there's something special about that :D

Well at least if someone who's a big fan of the game is also like WTF? With the board game I don't feel too lost :)

Yeah I think menus are terribly confusing - things feel hidden, training mode took me ages to find it - but I also been playing a bit of solo mode now and slowly in getting it - but it's feeling more like work than a game should be.

Actually just thinking - both Hyrule Warriors & Duper Smash Bros may look bright and colourful - but both are quite hardcore games beneath.

Will keep playing smash till at least Captain Toad comes out. That is my first Must Have for 2015

I was also lost with the Master+Crazy Order modes. But in a way I like the hands-off approach. When something is explained to me in a Smash game I just gloss over it, maybe the explanation mechanism isn't great.

Very much looking forward to Captain Toad too :)
