Congrats. The DC in board is often the subject of corrosion from liquid spills so I always have a few on hand. Easy fix.

Sometimes they can be restored by careful cleaning if the corrosion is removed.

Ok, I have replaced the resistor with a new one. That was fun for my first solder job. Little tiny guy! 0805 package 1ohm. This is R6905 on the G3HOT.

I know have on the LT3470A(U6990):
Pin 1, 2 = .63v
Pin 3 = 1.98v
Pin 4 = .70 v
Pin 6(VIN) = 16.17v
G3HOT = .63 before i replaced the R6905 I Had 1.16v on G3HOT
I need help figuring this out from here. I have No magsafe lights at all.
Obviously no power on at all.
How do I determine if the LT3470 is bad, or where do I go from here?

Also, I have no power getting to the battery connector.

Dadioh: Any thoughts on where to go with this.

Also: I have another 2009 13" MBP everything works except the headphone jack. I have no clue where to start on this? The U6700 MAX14504 had a little corrosion that I cleaned but am not sure what to do with it. Do I pull it off, clean below and put it back on? I know it has several points on the bottom.

I have a 13" MBP that won't boot into the OS. It gets stuck on boot screen, but the grey spinning wheel spins for about 30 seconds and then also gets stuck.

I have pretty much tried everything and I am also thinking this is board issue even though there is no known spills or anything of the sort.

NOT a logic board problem if you get to the spinning wheel. Try booting from from an OSX Installer DVD.

This thread is amazin and i need your help😀

I recently had my15 " Macbook Pro A1286 logic board dual core 2009 2.53gh repaired.

Works fine with power adapter but its not charging the battery.
so mag safe is Green permanently
so i replaced with a brand new battery and still no charge.
then i did a smc reset and battery calibration and still no charge.
so i ran some diagnostics and the logic board is still faulty as there is no charge going to battery🙁
the guy wants to charge me again for further repairs but he got to be joking i paid nearly $600 bucks and my board has had 2 dc in boards and new charger.

logic boards stress me out

I have just had two boards back to back with the same problem. Both work completely, see the battery, but do not charge the battery.

One of them is the identical board as yours.
Problem: Bad dc in boards.
I do not understand how the board is good enough to run the computer and not charge the battery. Has something to do with the adapter sense line pin 5 I guess.
I have attached a photo of the top side of your board with the U6900 Max9940.
This shows what your readings should be on the two pins. If pin 5 is large say 10-16v then the magsafe board, not the charger, is bad.
You will have to remove the board to get to it. U6900 is directly west of the DC in Jack about 1/2" at the edge of the board. The bottom pin is pin 5 in the photo.

NOT a logic board problem if you get to the spinning wheel. Try booting from from an OSX Installer DVD.

I did, but the spinning wheel gets stuck. You can look at my thread for more detail, but this is what I tried:


- Computer is reading both HDD & Disc (Holding option display both on boot)
- Computer boots fine with old HDD in place
- Tried a third HDD to rule out the possibility of a bad drive
- Reset the PRAM
- Reset the SMC
- Boot from a USB drive
- Tried my OSX Lion backup DVD
- Tested both discs in my iMac to make sure they work
- Use an external DVD drive instead of the built in super drive
- Tried installing Lion on the HDD through my iMac, but when finished said that installation had encountered an error.
- Tried booting into safe mode. It loads the bar and the bar then freezes shortly after loading is completed.
- Got the installation working through my iMac and have a fully working brand new HDD with OS X Lion loaded on it, but still gets stuck.

I stand by my position that the logic board is OK as evidenced that this unit boots fine with the old HDD. Perhaps you have a combination of bad "new" HDD and possibly bad superdrive or external drive?

yeah my other mbp had that not sure if it was the r6905 but it was a 2008 unibody with external battery my technician at uni said it was due to a power draw.
from a liquid spill, blown pin, or a knock maybe?

Yes, this has had a liquid spill. Trying to figure out what device has caused the power draw.

Checked your pics and the corrosion has mad some minor damage but nothing I could see with the naked eye.
But what did see was on the second MOSFET / the right one the 1 st pin look a little worn and I would resolder that pin very carefully to get a clean contact.

Sorry as I can not see anything else.

Where are those mosfets in correlation to you logic board ? They looklike the cmdr data ones in his diagram

Flashing green means the charger ic is trying to start but detects an issue and shuts down. The fact that it can temporarily turn it green means the circuit that Mac n sauce detailed above is working. Focus on the charger ic ISL6258 just north of the right side of the memory socket. You will see pin 14 is cycling to 3V when green light on and to 0V when light goes off. Check the components downstream of the charger. Maybe the green current sensing resistor.

I have had a few with wonky sata cables that will sort of boot but not consistently. The sata disk cable is a flex cable and runs around a few 90deg turns so it is possible for internal traces to get broken. I would try a new cable if you can buy or borrow one. I agree with Dadioh about a bad SATA cable on a 13" MBP that I fixed a couple of years ago causing the symptoms described (I have forgotten about that fix). Bought one from eBay and it solved the problem.

I agree with Dadioh about a bad SATA cable on a 13" MBP that I fixed a couple of years ago causing the symptoms described (I have forgotten about that fix). Bought one from eBay and it solved the problem.

I am on the 2009 model MBP and it has the 47ohm instead of the 1 ohm like the 2010
I attached schematic page. Would a bad LT3470 make that 47 ohm resistor get that hot? Is there a resistor i could solder over it to drop the voltage. I tried soldering a 47 ohm resistor on top of the original thinking the resistor was bad but it still had around 6v on G3HOT.

Look at 1 wire over voltage circuit pg 58
Also battery supply pg 59.
If you need help finding the parts just let us know.(finding the little guys are half the battle, at least for me).

I have the schematic and have been comparing all the components I can find between the 2 boards. They match up almost exactly. The bad board does power up on battery it just doesn't recognize the ac adapter.

Might be the charger then. I characterized a known good charger all pins resistance to ground. Can't remember if I ever posted it but it is a good diagnostics tool to indicate issues. In particular check the 2 charger outputs that go to the gates of the drive FETS. I think they are something like pin 22, 23. No schematic handy so just from memory.

G3HOT = 3.40v
Pulsing green on magsafe.
