Don't get the wrong idea, though. It's not just fruit juice. You add ice cream/yoghurt, ice, and milk to it as well. And it's also not a milkshake, as Smoothies aren't as thick or milky. It's somewhere in between a milkshake and a fruit juice, and it tastes better than both!

I always thought smoothies are thicker than milkshakes!
I do agree with you though - that they are not just fruit juice, nor are they milkshakes. Smoothies often have yoghurt / ice cream as well as milk... but they are a healthier option than the old ThickShake - which is a more ice cream (thicker) version than a milkshake.

I love smoothies... lots of combinations! Different fruit / combinations for different moods / seaons / time of the day.

I could go for a nice fresh banana smoothie right now, I mean just plain. Love the flavor of bananas. Don't want anyone to get the wrong impression.

Mmm...Banana Smoothie...sounds good to me! :D

I love smoothies but too lazy to wash up after making my own! There's an excellent chain in London called Crussh, who make the most fabulous smoothies ever :)

If you banana I will really be jealous. ;) Would like to know what you end up purchasing, then I can enjoy it vicariously.

Well at the end of my shift I got a Stawberry/banana/rasberry/blueberry smothie with applejuice and Sweet Cream Yogurt it was really good but now its time for bed. (being on your feet for 5 hours tires you out)

Boost is every where and at school about 5 mates work at boost. They can get me a huge discount and if they are working i could probally get one for free

Yeah, it's great having friends working at food places. I often get freebies at Burger King :)

And, back on topic, I haven't had a smoothie since I was in Australia, back in May.

Yeah... I drink at least one, often two, shakes per day. Usually bananas + peanut butter + chocolate soy milk (mmm, delicious!), and ice cream + Instant Breakfast and milk.

My blender is my best friend. One of, anyway :D

I love smoothies! I have a smoothie maker but rarely use it b/c of the mess....I prefer to buy.

My favorite is from www.planetsmoothie.com

I get a road runner it has blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, orange juice, and an energy supplement.

allison.

Hadn't come across this thread before, very cool topic. :) I am a huge fan of smoothies, and myself and my wife make them quite frequently using all sorts of yummy ingredients. I also frequent the Booster Juice locations here in town on a regular basis as well.

Great drinks, and great for ya!

At my Uni, they just recently re-modeled one of the food/snack stores. Looks really nice (with a fireplace too) and they added a smoothy bar that I can never make up my mind as to if I want a protein smoothy or one with more vitamins. But yes, quite expensive. Also, they have these really small personal pizzas (not slices) for $5. Unbelievable.

You should try making them yourself, you'll save a lot of money, and you can then make whatever kind you want! :)

And it tastes much better than the powdered based smoothies at some places.:D

Absolutely. I think many people are under a misconception that all smoothies are automatically good for you, or healthy - kind of like the Subway sub myth. At some places, you need to be aware of what exactly is going into your smoothie, as they can be almost as bad as a MacDonald's milkshake! Making them yourself solves that problem, as you can ensure fresh, healthy ingredients. :) Or, hey, if you want some less healthy but yummy ingredients too, that's fine, at least you know you're putting them in yourself. ;)

Strawberry and banana for me. Tropical Smoothie or this one place on campus are the only 2 i frequent.
