On Yosemite GM 3 and iOS 8.1 beta 2 and still nothing.

Anybody else in my boat?

Mine worked OK. I've been on the Yosemite GM Candidate builds for a while but hadn't updated my iPhone or iPad yet. Was trying to hold off until the event Thursday but couldn't wait any longer. Just updated and the codes popped up right away on my Mac and my iPad. I didn't do anything special. :/ Not sure why it works for some and not others! You toggled it on in the Messages settings on your iPhone right?

Yes, a bajillion times haha. I've toggled every toggle. Tried two different computers. Signed in and out of iCloud. All number of things.

Guess it's just not to be! Hopefully when everything comes out of beta it'll work.

I think its carrier independent, for me I lost the feature when I went to Straight Talk, it worked perfectly when I was on T-Mobile. The carrier needs to support iMessage and FaceTime via your iPhone number.

I am right there with you. I have tried toggling and hard resetting. I haven't reinstalled 8.1 yet since I figure I will wait till the public update will be out soon.

It works for me. I'm on at&t. I have GM3 and iOS 8.1. It flipped on after I rebooted both the phone and the laptop.

Have you been able to try this with an iPad as well? I am curious to how well it works because this is what I will be using the most. When I get home I put my phone on the charger and grab my iPad. It would be nice to get all my text messages from my non iPhone friends and family.

Unfortunately I have not. I almost never use my iPad; my toddler loves it though.

Can anyone post a screenshot of what it looks like when the code pops up on your screen?

I've just updated to 8.1, but when i want to associate my iPhone 6 to my rMBP for sms relay, the code doesn't popup on my screen :/

Edit: ok, it works now. Just disable and reactivate iMessage on your iPhone :)

I have updatet to iOS8.1 final and on my Macbook Air doesn't popup a message with a code. :(

Yep - same for me. I'm on 8.1 and Yosemite and cannot get that dang popup. Tried everything! "It just works" is apropos not SMS relay.

It "just worked" for me. I had Messages open on my MBP and as soon as 8.1 was done installing on my 6 I got the pop up on MBP asking if I wanted to use Messages to send/receive SMS, click yes, got the code, unlocked my phone, and a pop up was there to enter the code.

The fix is you have to have an email enabled on both your phone and mac iMessage app. It's a pain as you have to then turn them all off (if like me you JUST want your number given to people) on FaceTime and iMessage on both your iphone and mac.

I was having this problem as well and the post that suggested turning iMessage off and then back on did the trick. It "reactivated" my iMessage and asked for a prompt on my Mac to enable it. So I did and then tried toggling the SMS forwarding again and it popped right up! Glad this was able to be fixed and I hope this helps someone else! Thanks for the suggestion :)

Yup - can confirm this worked!

Enable people to contact you via an email address in addition to your phone number - then try activating SMS relay.

I cannot get it to work. I have wasted the whole day. There is no popup window on the Mac with the code.
