SMS Second alert ...

Guys,

Sorry, going back to the topic. I need some explaination/help.

After 2.1 for a week, I'm yet to get any sms repeat alert. :confused:

Tested by not touching the iphone with a minimun of 10 minutes to the max of 20 minutes after receiving a sms. I had tested this way more than 10 times, but sadly, my iPhone just would not show me the repeated alert for SMS? :mad:

I hope some one could help!

In my experience, this is how it goes.

I receive a txt. The tone sounds and the screen lights up, then goes dark again. Then, 5 minutes later, the tone goes off again as if I had just received a txt at that moment. Checking the phone reveals it was just to remind me to check the phone -- and guess what? It works! It got me to check the phone.
 
Strange indeed that I had have that alert.

It doesn't make sense, but could it be that I had the modified/customzed sms tone use with my iPhone which was uploaded via SSH?:confused:

Oh I see. I think that the jailbreak had "broken" the repeat alert. :eek:

Any solution to get back the sms repeat alert on jailbroken phone?:D
 
Really? Repeated Alert is working on your j/b phone!

Ok, anyway, I'm doing an "official" update to 2.1 now to see if my sms repeated alert works on the official 2.1 compare to j/b 2.1.:rolleyes:

I will be back in a short while for the result.:D

yea seems they added this 2nd alert thing in 2.1, because my phone never did this before. I personally find it really annoying because now when i get a text i have to unlock the iphone, click on text messaging icon, find the person who texted me and finally open that text to clear it from the unviewed next list..... why cant i turn this off?

Confirming on this:

Yes, the official 2.1 has the sms repeat alert, and the j/b 2.1 lost it, even with the latest WinQuickpwn 2.1. :mad:

Technically, I just wonder why the j/b broke the function?
 
Multiple Text Alerts

Sorry, but I have to add my 2 cents here about how annoying the multiple alerts are.

I have a dear friend that is near death from cancer and I'm trying to balance getting some decent rest vs. being available if called on by the family. I can't turn my ringer off...I've promised my availability day or night. Whether it's a nap or a night's sleep, it's important to not be disturbed by multiple alerts from one silly text. I can ignore one alert and fall back to sleep...but come on!

Also, I practice meditation and same thing applies. I turn off the ringer, but have to keep the phone in my lap on vibrate so I don't miss those important calls. Again, I can go right back "in" if it's one buzz, but multiple times, I might as well give up, open my eyes and accept the darn thing.

Come on Apple. Why don't YOU wake up and listen to your customers that pay big $$ for your products. We went the option to turn this feature off!
