And then throw the glasses in the trash can...Yea - the only way I'd ever get those glasses is if the supermodel came with it.
No, you got a totally wrong impression. The same set of people hate both Google Glass and Snap Spectacles. The real problem killed Google Glass was its high price point. With the average unit price increase of smartphones going up over the last 5-7 years, $1500 a pair may sounds not that expensive now, but at 2013, it sounds extremely expensive to most people.So... everyone hated Google Glass because of privacy issues but now we're all ok with it...?
I had a pair and I thought they were really cool for the time. Back in 2013 it wasn’t as socially acceptable to have a camera out all of the time. This has now changed however with body cams, apps like Snapchat and tiktok where people record every moment. I remember people would look at me weird, both because of this weird thing on my head but also because they assumed it had a camera on them.
I only had two encounters where somebody got annoyed at me wearing it, and one was in Harrods in London the security asked me to take them off because they didn’t like body worn camera, which I found funny because the person next to me was taking a photo on their phone of a gold Xbox and apparently that was fine (I wasn’t even taking photos).
Any kind of AR glasses would have to have a camera. There can be no AR without the glasses being able to see their surroundings, therefore a camera is a necessity.Personally, I'm really interested in this space. I cannot wait to purchase AR glasses...just keep imagining a HUD like the original Halo, LOL! Although, I don't think they should include a camera, way too susss for obvious reasons.
The worst thing about AR glasses is seeing the cameras. I don't, and I assume most people, do not like to be secretly filmed. It can quickly spread all over social media. Cameras on glasses should also show surrounding people the recording feature is on.
I’m not ok with it. But I’m betting there isn’t much uproar because it’s Apple and not spyware centralSo... everyone hated Google Glass because of privacy issues but now we're all ok with it...?
The second generation had a really nice way of noting that with a thin ring of LEDs that light up when it was used for a photo and went around in a circle when it was recording video. I do not think any of the three versions auto-upload to SnapChat, just to the user’s phone. The worst thing about AR glasses is seeing the cameras. The Snap Spectacles do not (and cannot - no where near enough battery or bandwidth) record continuously. They are very conspicuous when they are recording. But that ruins the functionality for the CCP. They need all our secrets.
Sorry, these are not made by Apple. The reason people have not complained about the first 3 versions of Snap Spectacles is that, unlike Google Glass, these do not have a display and cannot be activated without a very specific notification that recording is happening.I’m not ok with it. But I’m betting there isn’t much uproar because it’s Apple and not spyware central
Yes! Exactly. I never had Snapchat (nor tiktok and Co), I would never see myself putting cat eyes and dog ears for all the world to see... but here they come with something where others will potentially put those cat eyes and dog ears on me and share to the world? Cool, awesome Snap, please do tell me more.So... everyone hated Google Glass because of privacy issues but now we're all ok with it...?
That is a fact.Any kind of AR glasses would have to have a camera. There can be no AR without the glasses being able to see their surroundings, therefore a camera is a necessity.
👏👏👏👏👏
Don't think so. I think they're mostly for perverts. Can I order coffee through them?

True, but does it have to be user accessible?Any kind of AR glasses would have to have a camera. There can be no AR without the glasses being able to see their surroundings, therefore a camera is a necessity.
