Yeah, I hate this, it's one of my two 10.6 dislikes.
I love this.

I used to have to use ScriptSaver to launch an AppleScript that launched an application that slept the display to lock my screen and have the screen displayed.

Now I can just lock the screen. Very nice.

There is no fix according to HP: Mac OS: Setting Up and Using the Product in Mac OS X 10.6. You can scan directly from Preview though, something I really like.

Ugh. I am about to lose my God-given patience trying to get my 2110 to scan. SL keeps telling me that I have no device connected, but I am able to print to it. I can also pull up all the info about my printer following the instructions on your link, but still scanning is a not go.

Is anyone else using the same model, PSC 2110? I would like to know if it is just a problem with my model or if there is possibly something I can correct.

Yes, it's a beautiful thing. A few of us were of the same opinion.

Some others claimed with certainty that the installer would check for an existing Leopard install. Um, no.

Shall we partner up for the "I Was Right And You Were Wrong" dance? :D

Absolutely.

I'll admit I was wrong, but I don't think I ever claimed it with certainty. I did say that the drop-in discs used for Leopard did check - and it would make sense if these were of the same design - but, I was wrong. No big deal.

If I had a nickel every time I was wrong, I could buy the box set for every poster in this thread. And if there was somebody to which I was referring specifically, it wasn't you. ;) :)

Life goes on.

EDIT: I did find this battery condition notification feature interesting, if painful to read. I've had this MBP a little less than a year.

Well I am not sure if anyone else noticed these (I didn't feel like reading through 9 pages):

When switching spaces, the window glides over instead of arrow switching.
When arranging icons in Finder, they glide to the positions instead of instantly going there.
On time machine, flipping through windows is much quicker and smoother.

But... this problem is far less annoying now that we can resize our icons to 512x512. Like integrat.ethis said, you really notice this when you QL a small icon, and then continue on to bigger images. When you're browsing PDF documents and such, it's not really a big deal because they'll be pretty big anyways. But for comfortably browsing/sorting images, you can now drag the icon-size-slider in Finder and you don't need to use QL at all. At least, that's how I use it.
Heh, one of the horrible things about Apple's quest for perfection is how with every change they make, I feel like I need several more changes. I'd reaaally like to throw some of Finder's new quicklooked thumbnails in Stacks, and configure the size of the icons. I would hardly ever need to use Finder again.

something i just came across that's a bit annoying.. when screen sharing you can no longer cmd+option+esc and force quit out of screen sharing as it instead brings up the force quit menu on the shared screen... there is no way to exit screen sharing without moving the mouse to the screen sharing menu and quitting that way... makes it difficult to screen share and exit without letting anybody know you're watching

Move the cursor to the bottom of your screen while Screen Sharing is launching.

...Or, go into Exposé, click on the Screen Sharing app in your Dock and click Quit.

I'm a pro at not being detected over Screen Sharing... I like to freak my brother out from time to time.

3 Things

1.) I'm not sure if this was present in Leopard, but I just did this by accident a minute ago. Holding Command+Shift and pressing the pill button in Finder toggles thru the different view options for the buttons (ie small, larger, with text), and just holding Command goes in the opposite direction.

2.) When using extended mode, dragging an item from a browser (ie an image) to the non-main display (the one with the menubar), it will place it on the spot. In 10.5 when you did this it would place it on the main display, and then you could drag it to the other one.

3.) Maybe it only did this to me (WHY ME??), but regarding the awesome app GimmeSomeTune, it only changes your status to the current iTunes song when you have chosen the "Current iTunes Song" status. Before, it would change my status to the current song, no matter what available status I had set.

Also, when I first booted up, I was blown away at how fast was Safari was. So fast that I changed it back to my default browser. Now, however, it takes a long time to respond when I open a new tab. I was glad to hear about the smart eject feature, however I currently have a disc image that refuses to eject because it is in use, yet it does not show me what apps are using it.

BTW, Seeing as somebody noticed the Spotlight icon slightly changing, I can't believe nobody has mentioned this but the x-+ buttons look slightly different, not as sharp, I like it.

There's plenty of good and bad already, but Snow Leopard just came out, I can't wait for future features and updates to fix bugs.

Expose Space Combo

1 - Combo of Spaces and Expose.
2 - Was there always a 'Send to iPhoto" button under QL?d

No, the traffic light graphics are exactly the same. I compared a Snow Leopard screenshot with a Leopard screenshot with the x - and + showing and they're both the same.

No, I have compared them myself. I might be wrong, I'm just saying I thought I noticed a difference.

Side note: whoever said that Expose wasn't as fluid; same here

I just got done comparing them and it seems as though everything is lighter in Snow Leopard. They're not blurry, the pixels are the same, but they are a little bit lighter.

I think that maybe the new ArtFile has a color profile attached to it and that's why adjusting your screen calibration barley changes them. Try it out for yourself. Pixel-wise though, they're exactly the same. Sorry.

Can you post a screenshot of what you mean?

OK, you lost me at ArtFile

App Switcher via Screen Sharing

Here's something new: when using Screen Sharing to control another computer, hitting Cmd-Tab to switch apps will switch the apps on the *remote* computer, not the computer you're sitting in front of.

That used to bother me so this makes me very happy.

Just installed Mac OS 10.6, the installation process was relatively painful, it took about an hour. My only gripes so far are at first the Applications Folder didn't have any icons for any of my apps. I restart fixed this problem.

I installed Xcode 3.2, that wasn't difficult. My only problem is that now MacPorts is not working, at all. I removed MacPorts and I'm now reinstalling it, and hopefully it will work. It's supposed to work on Snow Leopard.

Finder, Stacks, Mail are all working very fast. Safari and Firefox seem to be loading pages very slow. That may just be my internet though. I'm not big on the new Expose at all, but that may just be my personal preference.

Basically, every user interface element in Snow Leopard has a color profile attached to it. So, everything looks exactly how Apple wants it to look, regardless of your monitor settings. That's why everything looks so good in snow leopard.

Is there a way to set the new quicktime to stop playing within Safari? I'll have the occasional rapidshare link that opens in a .mov and Safari will try to play it rather than send me to that page.

Whenever I try to open a .mov that's on the computer Quicktime 7 shows up instead of quicktime x. The "Change All" feature in get info isn't available. Any thoughts on this?

Anyone else find that after a restart their default audio output is set back to the internal speakers rather than line out or digital?

OK, you lost me at ArtFile

I think what is happening here is the fact that SL is using a 2.2 gamma value instead of 1.8 of Leopard.
If you have two computers one with Leopard and one with Snow and you put them side by side the difference in colors is noticeable. But the graphics are the same, just displayed slightly different.
