Snow Leopard: mouse 'show desktop' shortcut

I was trying to map 'Show Desktop' to a keystroke - any keystroke and it would not work. Mapping the same keystrokes to other stuff did work, but 'Show Desktop' failed. I followed mishaneah's advice and now it works.
