I skiied for 3 years before trying snowboarding.

Snowboarding > skiing - for me at least.

It's been too long since I've been snowboarding though.

Snowboarding looks like fun, but I've been skiing since I was five years old and do not get the chance to go as often as I'd like. When I do have the chance to go, it's hard for me to decide to try something new that I'm unfamiliar with instead of going with something that I know I enjoy. If I lived nearer some quality slopes, I'm sure I would have tried snowboarding by now.

One, Apple is not better than Microsoft.

You're saying that like it's a fact, and it's not. It's all preference.

One person could like Microsoft better than Apple, and one can like Apple better.

Same with snowboarding. There is no definite 'better' sport. Some people prefer snowboarding, some prefer skiing. Nothing wrong with either.

but apple is better. thats the thing.

In your opinion that is. Others may think Microsoft is better, in their opinion.

IMHO linking computers with skiing/snowboarding preference is a waste of time.

As for me, I do both snowboarding and skiing, and I use Macs and PCs. I am a much better skier because I've been doing it for a lot longer. But I enjoy snowboarding as well. In fact, on a typical ski trip, if you will, I will do both. Depends on my mood, weather, and terrain. :)

Well

I was on skis before I even mastered walking out in Utah, but I started snowboarding in Junior High School when I moved out to minnesota.

I love snowboarding, but I tried swapping with one of my skier friends for a day, and it seemed I had forgotten how to ski. It was SO difficult.

They both have their merits, but I actually think snowboarding could be safer, the risk of knee/hip injuries has got to be significantly lower due to having both feet mounted?

How aobut this?

I'm a better snowboarder than skier, and I find snowboarding much more enjoyable. I started out skiing first but never got comfortable with it, even after spending lots of time practicing in the Alps one season. I learned to snowboard a few years later and love it - I doubt I'll ever try skiing again at this point.

My husband is an excellent skier, having learned when he was very young. He snowboards as well but since he can go anywhere and do anything on skis on the mountain, he'd much rather ski than board. I'm finally good enough on a board to keep up with him for the most part, though he's own his own on moguls, of course. :p

Both are fun.

Colby West laying it out!

Sweet! :)

I remember when Snowboarding first started "blowing up," and people who'd never skiied before were doing it.

I had 10 years of Skiing experience, and switched to Snowboarding after one too many run-ins with snowboarders on the slopes. This was in Mammoth Mountain, CA, where all the s-bag teenagers would literally run you off the slopes, or at least make your day hell if you were seen on Skis.

Kind of killed it for me, and I never did get the hang of Snowboarding, but I always liked Skiing.

Moral is, go with whatever you like, but realize you're probably going to have to deal with idiots either way.

i have NEVER seen any sort of "bullying" on the slopes by snowboarders vs skiers or whatever and Ive been doing it for 10 years

maybe its just me lol

Well, I was 17 or so at the time, and I used to be the skinny body type that high school douche bags love to pick on, so YMMV. :D

I've had a decent number of snowboarders talk s*** and try to mess with me...never really sure why, but it's always kind of fun to show them that I'm faster than them on my K2s, and that I can lay down a pretty mean snow shower at the bottom. :D

in skiing's defense, its alot more comfortable sitting on the lifts lol

snowboards tire my ankles when they dangle lol

oh yea, i hate the bunny slopes....those ski schools with little kids all doing zig zags are soooooo annoying ;)

I have seen the snowboarders harassing skiers before. They think they can get away until a ski portal catches then and contently escorts them off the mountain and yanks their lift pass.

The Ski Portal on the resorts do not mess around with people harassing or bullying others on the mountain. it is a one way ticket to being kick off the mountain.

I have wanted to try it because it looks like a lot of fun just it would require me giving up skiing for a trip and I know I will really enjoy skiing

never saw anything like that, but if they behaved like jerks, they deserved to get kicked out.
I am definitively for skiing, but i concede that on powder boarding is a also lot fun.

In the old days, when snowboarding was new, there was some friction between skiers and snowboarders. I've observed some conflicts on the slopes.

But things have changed over the years. Now you see groups, who have both skiers and snowboarders, that are enjoying the slopes together.

Both sports have their advantages and disadvantages.

Anyhow, I still have no idea how you can link skiing and snowboading to the type of computer that you use.

You can't.

It's like trying to link your political viewpoint to the type of computer you use.
