Sure, dude, it’s always about sacrifice. For me personally the X was already approaching perfection, but it was a bit too big for one handed use - hence the Mini. Personally, I think it’s the best phone for the value right now, but that’s just my humble opinion of course :)
I reckon the iPhone SE 2nd gen in my opinion is the best bang for buck iphone, then the iPhone 12 mini just after. The 12 mini though, just love it to bits.

May not be possible in such a small body? FWIW, I always use AirPods/earphones or Bluetooth speaker when a good sound is important.
I’m guessing that too. Even my iphone 6 and ipad 3 has better bass thump. The Mini pack a lot of components in a small body, so that’s understandable. I too always connect to a bluetooth speaker or earphone for serious music playing and considering airpod now.

Originally bought the 12 Pro and picked up the mini on an upgrade just to play with it. A month later and I haven’t touched the Pro since. The mini is the best phone Apple has made in years. Going to sell my Pro and keep the mini.
You do not miss the larger display sometimes for movie-clips and such?

I personally do not. The screen of a mini is super sharp for any short clips or previews. However, enjoying a movie properly on any iPhone (even a Pro Max) is tricky, IMO. I would not watch it on anything smaller than 10” and this is an absolute minimum for me.

Screen downsizing when moving to mini from any bigger phone will most likely feel funny at first, but I adjusted very quickly and would not go back to my previous iPhone 11.

I was skeptical of the screen size at first, but after a few weeks of use, I'm finding it perfectly adequate for my usage. Quick reading of e-mails / articles here and there, texting, calling, etc. Camera has been great as well.

I've been using about 2 hours SOT a day (on low power mode granted) at about 25% battery usage, which extrapolates great in terms of battery life.

I'm going back to my original 2016 SE. 12 Mini is still too big. It's manageable, but not enjoyable. I find that I still need to reach for the top and reposition the Mini in my hand. Something I don't have to do with the SE.

I was very excited to get the Mini. In fact, it was the first phone since Iphone 5 (the original one, not the S with the stupid flat IOS7) that I was excited to get.

I really hoped that I could fall in love with it. Didn't happen.

I still use my IOS6 iPhone 5 as my alarm clock and put up with my SE as my main phone.

I use a Huawei P30 for the camera which is still miles better than Mini 12's camera.

Plus I hate the glass back and strongly dislike the lack of a physical button.

All of it I guess I could get used to but at the end of the day, I don't see a point in switching.

Just ordered a new high capacity battery for my SE.

It will serve me for another year or two—and then if too many apps stop working with the new IOSes that will not be available for the SE (or if Apple releases a Mini-Mini), I'll switch.

Coming from the X line and 7plus before that I was looking forward to a smaller phone. Of course watching YouTube videos on a 12 Pro is better than on a 12 mini, but what are you doing on your phone most? YouTube? If so I suggest an iPad or TV. If you are using your phone as a communication device first you can’t beat the portability of this device. The fact you are getting top of the line specs, highest PPI display of any iPhone and great build quality makes this a great option.

it’s about hierarchy of needs. At least we have a choice.

Going back and forth between 11 pro and mini
Heavy user here, both phones I have to recharge by late afternoon
Charging is so fast on these devices nowadays so I guess Mini is fine if battery is your concern
Are you on your device all the time for work, or because you have an unhealthy addiction to your phone?

A lot of people may be missing out on a great phone, because they have convinced themselves, that they have to not only be on their phone all the time, but said phone must be phablet size to be useful.

The mini checks off a lot of great iPhone boxes.

Menych, have you not considered the iPhone SE 2020? This phone would tick a lot of boxes for you (can swipe from the bottom up to access control centre) as it is the same Touch ID form factor, but with an A13 Bionic chip, 3gb ram and decent camera. Blisteringly fast performance, compact size, solid build quality and only £399. I honestly do not think Apple will go smaller than the 12 mini size though.

My previous phone was an iPhone 8.

First I used the Mini about 2 weeks and return-it due to yellow/green screen issue.
Then I took an iPhone 12 regular and use-it since.

I will return this iPhone 12 regular in January and want finally get a new iPhone 12 mini (with better screen I hope).

So in conclusion, when I used my iPhone 12 mini, I remember how I really loved-it, several times a day I was said to me "this iPhone is awesome", like "Steeve Jobs's time" iPhones, I can't really explain this feeling.

And then I get the Iphone 12 regular, the screen appears simply too big for no reasons (for me) because it's simply a zoom and it display not really more informations at all than the mini.

It's difficult to really use-it in one hand and his weight is not ideal for long use.

Ok I got a better battery but this 0,5 day of more is useless for me because I charge my Phone all nights anyway.

For videos Iphone 12 regular is better than mini but not better than my iPad Pro on my sofa ;-)

The thing which i love about 12 Mini, this is really small phone, you cant get smaller one, it doesnt exist anymore
If you dare to go on Android, its all above 5'8 (i think Pixel 5 is one of smallest)
The feeling in hands is quite paradoxical, feels good in your hands while size screen is big enough
For those who still using iPhone 6/7/8, same feeling in hands but with much bigger screen
Personally, i do believe Apple should NOT name as 12 Mini but instead iPhone 12 P as Perfect lol
When first rumors arrived about iPhone X, i had a dream about iPhone with same size as iPhone 6/7 but bigger display
Then Apple released iPhone X with sightly bigger phone and 5'8 which for me it was a bit uncomfortable and sightly too big

2020 SE is HUGE! If I wanted to go with iPhone 6, 7, and 8 factor, I'd be getting those. As I said, Mini is tolerable and I will probably end up switching to it when 2016 SE is no longer functional but for now I'll be returning it.

Is the worlds smallest violin too big ?

Is the perfect phone for me? Maybe not, still not happy about the aspect ratio. But it ticks the rest of my requirements for a phone, so I will keep it.
I don’t get why some do not feel happy about the Mini’s aspect ratio.
Isn’t it all full screen iPhones has the same ratio despite size difference?

I’m coming from a 6, so this is why I’m not used to it yet. Even today when I take my 6 the screen feels bigger even if it is smaller. I don’t see the benefit of those 0.7 inches.

Ah, I see then. I came from a 6 as well, but has been longing to finally update to full screen iPhones.
Yes the fact that the upper extra screen is reserved only for status icons, we actually only get half of that extra screen long, which is positioned under our lower thumb down below. But I still finds it as an extra for reading more content on vertical page such as this forum or YouTube comments section.

Yep, reading is nice. Also is not a good aspect ratio for videos. On 6 the videos were full screen while on the mini I see the two vertical bands. Probably is just the perception, but videos look smaller.

I think the Mini is a great phone. The pro's and con's are obvious. I am still getting constant dropped calls, this is my only problem. I really hoped that the last update would fix this problem.

Here's my breakdown of pros and cons of Mini vs. 2016 SE

Pros:
Much faster
Much better screen
Will support newer IOS
Slightly better camera

Cons:
Still a bit too big. It's still primarily a 2-handed operation for me.
Glass back
Camera lenses that are not flush with the back of the phone, preventing it from lying flat.
Power button on the side. I keep pressing it all the time by accident.
No headphone jack
No physical button to go to home. Not a big fan of swiping.
