So with all the issues with the iPad Air 2 and almost no improvement from the last Air, are you going to just wait for the iPad Air 3?

I was going to pull the trigger this week on the new iPad Air 2, but I hated the screen distortion so much...I went to BB this Black Friday and everytime I picked up the iPad without any force it kept giving me the screen distortion on the lower corner, to me that's very annoying.

I am happy that they decided to add that extra gig of ram and improved the screen from the last gen, but battery life not being improved? Well that is very disappointing. Do you think the next iPad Air 3 will have better battery life? Better sound dampening option so it doesn't vibrate too much and possibly the screen distortion being finally fixed?

I've yet to see a screen distortion issue on any iPad air 2 I tried.
Does it vibrate while playing music? Yes it does, but it doesn't distort the sound at all (actually it play a little better than my iPad air) and I'm always using earbuds.
Improvements? Performance wise there are many, included 2 Gb of ram.

The only reason I'm not buying it is my budget: a lot of unexpected expenses in this quarter, I'm skipping both the iPhone 6 and the Air 2.
For the time being....

I'm sort of waiting for the next refresh but it needs to really wow me for there to be any chance of an upgrade. My Air keeps humming along without any troubles so I'm staying with it unless provoked.

The extra RAM and screen updates were nice on the Air 2 but hardly mandatory. I'd also like them to fix the screen vibration issue or I'm staying away. The rush towards infinite thinness has its drawbacks.

We'll see how it goes in about ten months or so from now. ;)

I hope they get this screen thing fixed, that would be more annoying to me than anything else. Also if I want to watch a movie on my tablet, I don't want it to vibrate for 2 hours on my hands...I understand some vibration, but the way it vibrates when playing YouTube videos is just unacceptable, It almost feels like the whole thing is about to come apart.

Waiting, LOL!

Yes I am waiting while I use my two new Air 2 units. Do not listen to the negative posts here as the Air 2 is a great piece of hardware and worth while purchase.

On this forum basically there are negative reviews of ANY new Apple iDevice released.
This is a good place to discuss about technology, but by far the worse place for seeking buying advice.

It is nothing like that. It is just a light resonance vibration.
It really amuses me how things are exaggerated here.

Or flaws underestimated with an over-positive feedback.

Better to try it on your own hands, and read the feedback as a guide for a checklist to test it in a real life before actually buying it.

And yes, waiting for air3/pro. I think im going to give up with air2 and skip it... atleast not going to buy it on this year - alittle hope they fix those issues...

That is not a flaw by any means.

I do not have a flawed screen and it does not distort when I'm holding it. Sound vibration is real but I don't care about it.

The air 2's i played with in the stores dont have that distortion problem either.

Anyways, i wouldnt wait much regarding technology, the next models may come with new problems that could hold you off.

None of the "issues" often discussed here are serious. The next iPad will have "issues" as well, because the quest for thinness is just going to keep happening. The Air 2 is a solidly good piece of hardware.

I love this forum, but we will never be collectively satisfied with any model of iPad.

I have not seen any distortion on my launch day Air 2. It's been nothing short of a great little device. Yes it vibrates but the resonance seems to make it sound much louder and fuller than my previous iPad 3. I understand waiting if you have a recent model but other than that to each his own.

I've had the chance to test out the new iPad in stores both at Best Buy and Apple Store....the best buy distortion was terrible, the one at the Apple store not as bad...but I think it varies model to model...I doubt Apple will roll out a new updated version....

Max(IT), you sound like you work in Apple’s PR department. Either you don't understand what the screen distortion problem is, or you are denying it exists. Every single iPad Air 2 display unit in the two Apple Stores near me exhibit the screen distortion problem.

The iPad Air 2 is massive improvement from the Air 1 !!! the performance upgrades are great and the thinness is nice. Not a fan of the lack of mute switch.

I'm not upgrading as I've only had my iPad 2 since March 2012, and the iPad 2 still runs fine with iOS 8. If the iPad 2 runs iOS 9 I will wait for the iPad Air 4 but if not I may upgrade to the iPad Air 3.

It doesn't on mine unless I squeeze the unit WAY harder than I would consider reasonable. In normal use, there is not a hint of it - even holding on the exact areas with the Smart Cover hanging off the other side.

Screen distortion?? what on earth are people talking about lol more importantly what are people doing with their iPads?

You know what, when I go home Im going to test this on my recently bought Air 2.... actually, I wont bother since whatever it is that some people are complaining about hasn't bothered me.

and the only thing I notice with the Air 2 sound is how much louder it has gotten in such an incredibly thin device, no more cupping the speaker to hear things.

What on earth are you talking about, the performance hike over the Air is insane, 250% increase in graphics performance 40-50% increase in CPU performance, the Air 2 is now as powerful as a 2014 MacBook Air!

As for the screen distortion I have never seen this,

Don't forget 2 GB of RAM .

Next year we will see developers taking advantage of this and in my case I don't see problems with screen distortion

I'm waiting for the iPad Pro 3. The iPad Pro 2 almost nailed it but was limited to 2 GB of ram and the screen has a weird zig zap issue. I'm hopefully the iPad Pro 3 will fix the existing issues and add a couple new must have features such as the ultra retina resolution.

PS. I am from the future!

I have found it to be a great update if you want better performance, a better screen, antiglare, lighter/thinner design, and TouchID (fantastic for password managers). Also, the ability to use future features that take more advantage of the 2GB RAM is something that is difficult to judge at this point.

If those things don't mean anything to you, you could probably get by with an iPad 2 (which many people still are). However, I am sure iPad Air 3 will be even better, and iPad Air 4 will be better than Air 3, and so on.

seriously No improvement?????? how would you know if you have not bought and used Air 2

Why dont you wait for Air 8; would be your best bet.

And No...we are not waiting for Air 3 because we have Air 2:rolleyes:
