They did it with Apple Watch before it came out. I remember they had Drake wearing it and posting pics with it at Coachella. Don’t think it’s the same for the X though.I don't think Apple does this. Have you ever seen a 1%'ers, celebrities, big business types, etc. have an iPhone before the general release?
And honestly...who really cares?
the 1% elites are who put their dreams and money on the lines provides us jobs.

Not to get too political, but Apple is against the 1%ers. Would make them hypocrites...

They were selling a $17,000 Apple Watch, what? Not to get too political, but Apple is against the 1%ers. Would make them hypocrites...
I read something online about a year or two ago... it might have even been here on the MacRumors forums, actually. The guy said something along the lines of this (I'm paraphrasing this):1%ers are far more likely to be low profile small business owners living in middle class neighborhoods and using their 3 year old iphone 6 than they are to be celebrities or big business types. Real life isn't an episode of MTV cribs.
I have not which is why I asked. Some people here might work for the 1% type and might have spotted them with it. Also, again with the rich and powerful: they have access to things most normal people don't.
Honestly, I could care less but it was just something that I wondered about. Apple is so tight lipped about their products so I was wondering if they bend the rules for the 1%'ers that ask for it. Other companies do this as well.
This probably doesn't quite apply that well to various parts of US, like Silicon Valley, for example, where just basic houses are in the $1M+ range.I read something online about a year or two ago... it might have even been here on the MacRumors forums, actually. The guy said something along the lines of this (I'm paraphrasing this):
I work for a contracting company. We build houses. Our primary clients are developments for high-income earners; think $1M+ homes. After years in the business, funny thing I've noticed: the buyers of the ~$1M homes are the ones with the expensive, brand name clothes, the trophy wives, the Range Rovers sitting in the garage. However, the purchasers of the $5-6M+ homes are quite the opposite: normal clothes, normal car, older cell phones; honestly you wouldn't even realize they were rich if you didn't see their house. What's the point of me saying this? The ones buying the ~1M homes are the ones just breaking into that income bracket. They made their first million and they feel they have to prove it. The TRULY rich, the ones buying the homes costing $5M+... they're not trying to prove anything to anyone. They have money, and they know it, but who are they trying to impress? No one.
Also, I know a 1%er. Not a Gucci suit nor a BMW in sight. iPhone 6S.
My point in saying all of that: I think that many people (far too many) think that the 1%'s are some crazy, secret society conglomerate. Not in the slightest. It actually only takes an income of ~$450,000 per year (the number is always in flux) to be a top 1% earner here in the States. In real life, most millionaires are not living the millionaire life you see on TV. But why make TV shows and feature the average millionaire on Entertainment Tonight? Their lives are pretty normal. And "normal" doesn't make for fun television.![]()
Oh man the housing market there is absolutely insane. This probably doesn't quite apply that well to various parts of US, like Silicon Valley, for example, where just basic houses are in the $1M+ range.
Well keep in mind that conversation happened back in early 2014. Naming convention was surely very different back then. The 9 must have been incredible.
