I’m incredibly stoked for series 4 watch. With the new system-on-chip S4 architecture shrinking nanometers even more (what are we at now? 7nm?), the thinner looking body, more curved, larger display, new colors, new watch faces and possibly new health tech sensors I’m all in.

I’m rocking the series 2 stainless and this might be the first Edition version I get in ceramic white or black although I love the heft and weight of the stainless. I’m torn.

I’m just so glad Apple keeps pushing so much tech into these things and while I know this was Johny Ive’s personal enthusiasm project, I think it was launched a year early. The tech just wasn’t there to make it a really slick experience. The series 3’s I’ve messed with feel super fluid and if they get that and more into a slimmer design with larger screen, I feel they’ll have a homerun. This will probably be the first watch my family even seriously considers as they’ve written off smart watches completely so far.

Yeah, I can’t wait either. I have a Series 2 and didn’t feel compelled to upgrade to the Series 3. But I definitely will be getting a Series 4. And my daughter is excited to have my Series 2 when I do.

It may seem trivial to some but I'm glad that stupid ugly red dot is gone, now I can actually match the damn thing properly. I mainly use my watches for alerts and exercise so unless there's some really game-changing new features in terms of the health and fitness data I may still hold off and buy the Series 4s in a couple different styles (i.e. a sport specifically for sleep and exercise and a ss for work and going out) only once the Series 5s come out and people start selling off their S4s for cheap. I'm very intrigued however to see what they have in-store since this is very much a product-line that hasn't really matured yet.

I’ll be going from SS series 2 to series 4 edition, the scratches the SS gets annoy me and that won’t be an issue on the ceramic, the one at the Apple store I looked at managed to have a scratch on the sapphire screen but the case was still flawless.

The series 3 was like 75% faster than the series 2 so the series 4 should be over 100% faster, plus I’d get a lot of use out of the cellular feature as I often go out for long walks and want to leave my phone at home.

If they offer a gold stainless, I might opt for that this year, but the Sapphire display is a must no matter what for the added protection.

will there still be two size versions this time around? what does everyone think?

I think it’s a certainty, in my experience my wife and a few other women I know feel the 42mm is too large for them.
Apple doesn’t need to shrink they’re market share by not providing a valid option for people.

Not for me. Yearly Apple products are on my yearly budget. Fortunate for me and for others who do like I do.

Are you saying that you budget for these products? This does not negate the fact that a lot of money will be spent.

Where did I say that my purchases would be difficult for me to afford or that I even need to budget for them? My point being that this season Apple will have new products for me to buy (I went 4 years with the Mac Pro 6,1 waiting for something to be released that would be an upgrade and 3 years waiting for apple and intel to produce a better MacBook Pro that was worth upgrading ) and that these products will cost a non-trivial amount of money in total.

The only product I have been able to count on upgrading annually has been the iPhone.

I’ll be going from a Series 0 SS 42mm to the Series 4 SS 48mm. Imagine what a difference it is going to be for me! I’ve got this thing dialed back to the point where it has half the functionality from launch turned off and it still dies around 8pm. I can’t wait.

I would love to see either brushed SS or a Space Gray SS (they have Space Black but I want something in the middle). Another option could be a gunmetal sort of pewter color which would match my Oakley Deringer frames which match my dirty blonde hair quite nicely. Titanium could also look sharp.

I’m really glad that stupid red dot is gone. Wish they could ditch the ring entirely but at least it is less apparent now. Though I fear that is actually an Apple Watch Edition exclusive feature and the Edition is what leaked. Bringing back the gold or maybe gold plated for around the price of the ceramic with a less obnoxious button? Hope not.

I hope they come up with some new metal band designs. I prefer those type. Perhaps they will at least redesign them so they come apart in the middle so we can use AirPower with them.

As for sensors, I really hope they somehow add a blood pressure monitor. It runs in my family, even if you’re thin and healthy. Technology like this (and the heart rhythm stuff they’ve added) could have helped save my uncles life a couple years ago when he died of an unexpected heart attack in his driveway not long after leaving the gym. Nobody was around and he was a fairly fit and trim 53 year old. He was wearing a Series 0 Apple Watch and died before the tech to catch his condition was ready. I look forward to the day where these things are basically an always connected wearable tricorder.

I hear ya, my own dad passed away when I was 20. I really wish there was something like the Apple Watch back then (2000). Sadly, I don’t think the technology exists for blood pressure on a device like this yet. I’m thinking all we’re going to get is a more accurate heart rate monitor.

Same. I am PUMPED!!! I’m actually looking forward to the watch more than the iphones. I think I’ll upgrade from my series 1 and sit out the iPhones till next year unless there is more to the S series that blows me away.

The sizes you will see likely this year offered, is what we have seen in the past with a 38 mm and a 42 mm Dispay, just with the larger 15% display. There is no reason to believe Apple going to offer anything different.

Not sure there is a 48mm version, I suspect 38 and 42mm. The screen size is going to be 15% bigger area over the S3 which gives it 1-2mm more on the height and width but the body stays the same as far as I am aware.

The case won’t change from all the reports we’ve got so far. I wear the 38mm Model and will most likely go with the bigger size this time even though I do like the smaller size. But to appreciate the added screen size I’ll try the 42mm Model.
