For me, I wouldn't even pay that much for a new one. If I was buying a used one, I'd be looking for a bargain. The iPad product line is just ridiculously priced compared to computers and other tablets on the market.

I'm simply not spending $900 on a tablet, new or used.
Exactly.

People buying iPads (the most expensive ones) and iPad Pros should know this.

Why would I pay 800$ for a second hand device when for that price or 100$ more I can get a brand new one (even if it's less storage)?

It's ridiculous they expect anyone to pay 800$ for a second hand device. Not gonna happen. Anyone with that kind of money can easily spend 200$ more for a brand new device.

Also, second hand devices often mean cheap prices. That's why people look in the second hand market. They aren't looking there to spend 800$!!

I'll throw my 2 cents in here...

Recently local on Craigslist I got a 12.9 with 128, wifi only, Create Keyboard, Apple Pencil, and charger for $700. Like new perfect condition etc. Seller had bought it and just too big and wanted smaller. With cellular and no accessories I'd guess $750-800 myself with no accessories. Or sell accessories separate if you have them.

EDIT: Nevermind. I misread "bought it and just" to be "just bought it and".

Agreed. For me second hand bidding begins at 50%, but even then I'd rather spend more money with Apple
than more time with an ebay reseller. I am skeptical of resale values reported here, but there's a sucker born
every minute--so who knows?

I do mostly agree with that. Last year I bought iPhone 6 outright from Apple Store, and this year alone a iPhone 6s Plus(128gb), outright as well, and a MacBook Pro Retina(Base w/256gb) AND a new Apple TV at beginning of the year. I am NOT generally a fan of buying used Apple products and I am well aware of the general concerns that arise when doing such but as far as my wife was concerned my "Apple Allowance" was wiped clean this year LOL as I am sure many of you can relate to.

This instance of the IPP was my first, and probably last, instance of buying a used Apple product. Had I A) Not been acquaintances with seller I probably would NOT have done it(not to say a acquaintance can't "screw" you here but...) And B) As some others have stated here I refuse to wrap nearly ~$1200 up in a iPad setup after just earlier this year buying a NEW MBP.

IPP Pro setup is REALLY growing on me. I initially wanted 9.7" but after using this big one, no regrets. I am already finding ways to use it over firing up MBP. I don't think it will eliminate MBPs existence in my ecosystem but it's super handy to have one device do as many things as possible. --I realize this isn't *exactly* what topic is about, but mentioning this hopefully helps paint picture of why any of us would go used here over new.

:)

Ive posted on facebook, offer up and craigslist and havent received a single call.. Its a 128gb 12.9 ipad pro (cellular and wifi) space grey rarely used only had for a month.. I tried putting it on ebay but I can not post anything abouve $500 since im a new member.. How much can I get for it? I had it for $950 and now I dropped it to $750
Have you considered that perhaps this is a sign that you should keep it? I too, had misgivings about my iPad Pro when I purchased it in February. It wasn't until I realized that I was trying to solve problems from a PC/Mac power-user mindset that I was able to stop and rethink my whole approach to computing, which is what the iPad, being the "future of computing" requires.

Once I started using the Apple Pencil, it became clear that I had a entirely different kind of device than my MacBook Pro, which the iPad Pro replaced. (Full disclosure: I now have a 5K iMac at home, but it gets used for only "heavy duty" tasks.)

YMMV, but I have found the iPad Pro to be a liberating experience, once I changed my conception of what a computer is.

Just a thought.

A lot of people from what I see greatly overestimate the resale value of their iPads. For instance on the Craigslist in my area I see people asking ridiculous things like $200 for iPad 2's or $250 for Mini 2's, and even $800 for iPad Pros. When I can look on Swappa and buy those same devices for much lower prices.

Basically if you really want to sell it then you need to drop the price. You're overestimating its value. When buying an iPad brand new these days don't expect it to fetch anywhere near retail on the used market. They don't have the resale value that Iphones have.

True.

IPads are NOT iPhones. Drop the price.

People don't desire iPads same as iPhones.

time is the only I have just sold my iPad 128GB + LTE + pencil for my asking price $900

Even though it's a beautiful device I just got a 65" oled so not having two tablets helps reduce cost

Plus we're getting towards danger zone of don't buy / wait for 2nd gen

i sell all my old iPhones and iPads on swappa. and best part is once it sells i have access to the money right away unlike paypal.

That is really not that bad being that retail is $1070 plus Apple Care which is $100 900 is a really good sale price not the usual price people get But great
No Apple care I never buy apple care but it was under one year old so still under apple warranty

My simple thought is that the majority of people just don't need a $700 plus tablet anymore. Because the market is so saturated and with iPad's becoming stale I really wound't pay over $500 again. If I get a plus sized iPhone this year I'm flipping my 64 LTE iPad Air 2 for $250 to $300. Priced to sale but you have more serious buyers at this range.
And it will be no different with the Apple watch after they announce a new model. No way I would even pay $150 for a 42mm watch. I'd rather pony up and get a new one but the cheapest 42mm version. Should get a solid 2 years out of it.

The biggest deal is found on kijiji (craigslist) is a sealed ipad pro 9.7 wifi
128gb (2 years applecare) for 525$ because his gf left.

I snagged a 1-week old (verified the serial number on apple.com) iPad Pro, AT&T Cellular, 128gb, with brand new Apple Pencil for $600 back in March. Turned around and resold it on eBay for $1100. Some craigslist people are nuts... that or i'm a decent negotiator lol

About 8 weeks ago I bought a Late 2015 iMac 5k, 27", 4.0ghz, 512gb SSD, 32gb RAM, with AppleCare until Jan 2019 for $1600. The deals on Craigslist are literally insane.

What size city?

I still hardly see 12.9" iPad Pro in NYC, and it's been an year

It was a flop
The iPad Pro 12.9" was never anticipated to be a large seller. It appeals to a very small niche of customers. It's just another size option. I'm pretty certain both the 9.7" and the 7.9" outsell it handily.

true

9.7 is the sweet spot for most users and cost for 12.9 plays a factor.

i traded my 12.9 for a the 9.7 pro

I had a 12.9 and bought a 9.7 pro to complement it. The 12.9 is nice, works really good for me, much like a Macbook Pro with better sound, more portable, little bit less keyboard, lighter, LTE. 9.7 is "just another iPad" with pencil and a keyboard that works (Bluetooth has been horrible for me). But together?
Holy crap on a cracker!

I'm doing a law study and have all my books digital. I read them on the 9.7, which is a nice pocket sized display. Then I make summaries on my 12.9 using Nebo (freaking brilliant app! Writing does give me more retention, the conversion to typed text does make it a whole lot easier to read back the week before my exams.) Two iPad and I have an endless library and endless notebook. Well, until the battery runs out :D

When I'm away for work and and don't need to do anything (just a meeting), I take the 9.7, it's light, easy and only difference is less real estate. If I need to work (write text/make appointments/have meetings) I take the 12.9 and sneak the 9.7 with me as well. 12.9 for writing, 9.7 for sharing documents, asking clients to read etc.

Often both my 12.9 and 9.7 are empty around 17h00.

It's an insane investment, two 256Gb LTE iPad Pro's, I'm a bit ashamed, so much money.
But for me it's really working.
YMMV

[doublepost=1476231261][/doublepost]Hi,

Personally I think you are asking too much for it, thus no responses. I have been looking through CL and see the same ones for less. And, if you check Best Buys website like this week, they have them on special. And with routers of the iPad Pro 2, 12.9" coming out, and with the holidays approaching, they are going to drop even more in price. I have the space grey 9.7" iPad Pro and it is about the same age as yours. I am finding that I should have bought the bigger one as my eyes aren't what they used to be, but I am also having a hard time selling mine on CL. Someone offered me $350.00 for mine just yesterday and I refused because I will not take that big a loss on it. However, I would like to buy yours from you if we can work out some kind of price. Let me know what you think. M
