Rails web development. Upgraded to 8GB a few months after I got it, because I always have a ton of browser windows open (all three) and a Windows VM in VirtualBox. Other than that, a bunch of Terminal/iTerm windows, a couple text editors, Libre Office, MySQL workdbench, some PDF's, remote desktop (CoRD), FileZilla, iTunes....

I just do code, I don't do any graphics work. Also have a ViewSonic 2236wm-LED connected for extra space.

OK, sorry that you are not the focus of this single thread.

Unfortunately it has became necessary to register a further downvote.

You would be cautioned that further posts from that do not meet my satisfaction may result in additional downvotes being levied against them.

Kind Regards.

Edit: No, that's just stopped working as well.

I noticed :)

Edit: Just checked down at the site feedback forum. Apparently this is a feature. We don't get to downvote the haters anymore. Boo. :p

While it was abused on pro Windows posts, I still think it was helpful to have the ability to down vote bad information.

Indeed, especially when another ignoramus upvoted the incorrect post believing that it was correct.

Can we return this thread to its original subject? Thanks.

Same way I use my MBAs. I.T. Management.

Terminal for SSHing into Windows Servers and running PowerShell commands/scripts.
This covers Exchange 2010 management, AD management, firewall management, SQL 2012 management, Cisco routers/APs, HP ProCurve switches, and IBM server management modules. Terminal is my biggest use item.
TextWrangler for editing scripts.
Xcode for compiling Mono applications, iOS apps and to keep track of scripts in git.
Forklift for transferring files (mono binaries, other files) to our FTP or other Windows SMB shares.
Coda 2 for updating our websites.
Navicat Essentials for some SQL Server queries.

Then the basic items:
Pages/Numbers/Keynote for office document work
Mail for Exchange mail
OmniGraffle for Visio designs
OmniPlan for project planning

Nothing that hits the CPU or GPU hard but definitely a lot of multitasking. I also have the only Apple computer in the company.

You have way more patience than I ever could hope to have.

I have no other choice right now. some things came up and i had to sell my macbook pro :(. and i got the eMac because i need to get my work done.

i am un-patiently waiting for the end of august.

Your opinion has been duly noted and filed in the appropriate location.

OOPS!!!

Or damn ..... it was put in the shredder by mistake.

We need to move the shredder away from the Trash Can.
