So I did some math, and if you buy a iPhone 3gs 16gb, pay the 250$ ETF, unlock it, and resell it on ebay you can make around 150-200$... Do you think AT&T would limit the number of accounts I can create and cancel?? Any AT&T reps here know?
And by accounts I mean add a lines.
Wow! Not one moral reply yet!
the joys of macrumors forums at 2:25 in the morning haha.
I've got a family plan with (5) iPhones and I think (5) is the limit for family plans; so that's maximum of $1,000.00 profit, and in the end, I would have no iPhone. I think I'll keep my day job.....![]()
you're absolutely right, the max you can have on a family plan is 5 phones regardless of iphones or any other cellphone. My family there's 6 of us with cellphones and for the longest time we had to use a business plan because it was cheaper than having 2 seperate family plans with 3 on each

No, what im saying is as I get the lines I would pay the etf to get out of it, so I would never get up to the 5 line max. Get what Im saying?
At some point they might notice that you're ripping them off.
It depends on your credit rating. So I did some math, and if you buy a iPhone 3gs 16gb, pay the 250$ ETF, unlock it, and resell it on ebay you can make around 150-200$... Do you think AT&T would limit the number of accounts I can create and cancel?? Any AT&T reps here know?
Sorry but you don't get it. The ETF starts at $175 and you just have to keep it 30 days and then cancel. You don't have return the phone after 30 days. You just pay the activation, tax, any usage. You don't get it. If you cancel shortly after activating, you will pay a pro-
rated penalty starting at $200 and have to return the phone (or pay full retail
of $599.) Only exception-you cancel and return everything within 30 days.
Nice try. Another I'm a genius grifter.
Yup, been there, dun that! I went round and round with AT&T several years ago with the v1 iPhone and I felt like a piñata after it was all over. Ended up having my cousin get the pay-as-you-go iPhone thing, that actually worked out for everyone....![]()
Honestly, this annoys me a lot.
You guys with AT&T don't know how good you have it. In most countries with an iPhone if you want to get out of your contract early you still have to pay the rest of the contract, which is a whole lot more than $175. Start scamming AT&T too much and they may change their policy and do the same thing.
Don't screw it up for everyone else just because you want make a quick buck.
