Keeping my Verizon UDP's...

I have four Verizon UDP lines and was close to changing over to the new 30GB shared plan for $130. That plan, which I need, will cost me between $35-$40 more per month. If Verizon would not have announced that they would not throttle, I very well may have jumped ship! So, in the end, I paid full price for four 6 Plus's and moved on. They should be here by the end of the month. I will trade in my four 4's still on 3G and collect $800 to help pay off the phone costs. I am not willing to pay more for less data. I did not get subsidized phones which would of brought my cost down. I am adding an iPad when the new ones come out and may just get a WiFi version. I do not think Verizon will let me use my UDP lines as a HotSpot to give my iPad LTE? Will check into that though. Maybe in a few years Verizon will offer a better deal to change my plan? Until they throttle my family, I am keeping my UDP's for now. Maybe I will sell them off on ebay using the AOL option in a couple of years to help pay for the iPhone 7's?

tmobile isnt the best in my area but since it's good enough, i dropped my att unlimited and gave tmobile my business. if there were any company that deserves my money, i think it's tmobile. maybe im brainwashed by their uncarrier stuff, but if it wasnt for them, we'd all still be paying 50-100 more per month. worst case, if the service gets that bad, ill go back to att on a family share plan.

Gave mine up as well. Last 3 months like clockwork is have 4-6 days left in my billing cycle and my phone was rendered useless.

Funny thing is I switched over the 30gb family plan (at 15 price) and now not only and I not throttled I have hot spot and a lower bill.

On principle I dislike giving it up but if they thought I was using to much before just wait. I'm taking this baby all the way to 29.9 this month.

Holding on to my unlimited data plan, you never know what AT&T is going to come up with to Verrizon's easing off data throttle.

I am so hoping this will happen. I have had unlimited since iPhone 3 and like OP, rarely went over until the iPhone 5S. Then throttled to unusable speeds. I don't go over the max unlimited speeds but when I do, it's frustrating.

Not with the forced arbitration clauses in all of our contracts (such terms really should be illegal...)

The issue against your suggestion is that contract law places a lot of power in the offeror to decide what terms are part of his offer. The offeree isn't forced to accept the offer. Additionally, courts promote arbitration, as it makes the legal process more efficient by relieving the excess of cases that already clog our system.

UDP user since 2008 hoping they cease the throttling.

If I'm not mistaken, every major carrier has a mandatory arbitration clause now, and it's not like the contracts are negotiable. There is a huge disparity in power between the two parties. Wireless telephony is practically a necessity in this day and age, and there are no controls in place preventing the duopoly from conducting abusive practices.

Thinking about doing the same. F* you AT&T

How is moving off the unlimited plan a "F* you" to AT&T? In fact they are probably grinning ear to ear because getting people to abandon unlimited plans is precisely what they want to happen.

Because I don't really have unlimited data because I'm getting throttled (average ~6gb monthly). And yes I understand I'm still getting unlimited data just at slower speeds but that is not what I signed up for 4 years ago. So f* you att

Will you still be an ATT customer? If so then it's F U for not voting with your wallet.

I understand (and sympathize) with your frustration. The point I was trying to make is .. if you got off the unlimited plan and signed up for a Mobile Share Plan, that is precisely what AT&T wants. A real "F* you" to AT&T would be if you left them and went to some other carrier.

How has your LTE service been? Considering doing the same thing just concerned about signal.

I just dropped my two unlimited plans. Switched to mobile share, 40gb. Plus, I can add on my kids iPads ($10/ea), unlimited calling, international texting, and tethering. All for only a few dollars more than I was paying for "unlimited" throttled bs, limited minutes, no iPads, etc...

So, yeah, I gave in...

But, I still have my unlimited grandfathered iPad plan. $30/mo for true unlimited data on att lte. Worth it's weight in platinum. Too bad I can't (easily) tether on that plan....

I really believe that all the carriers are the same so it doesn't really matter which one I'm on. Eventually they will find a way to move u off a legacy plan

Then like I said, its a F U because you continue to support them by paying.

I understand and somewhat agree with you. But moving off att is not really an option for me. Unfortunately they provide me the best pricing and best reception. i just wish they were more honest and less slimeballish

im in los angeles and it's been okay. in all honesty, when it's good, it's great.. ive never experienced lte speeds this fast with att. however, when it's bad, ill go from lte to 4g. sometimes if im down in the basement of my work, there's no signal.. but i am underground.

im not "connected" 24/7. what i mean by that is, if i dont get to surf the net or check my other stuff for a little while, it doesnt bother me too much.

again, im in la and it's pretty well covered for the most part.

I did the same thing almost a year ago and noticed my speeds jumped. I wish I would have done some testing before and after to see just what, but I definitely noticed a diff.

i don't have a problem with my unlimited plan phone seems fine, or maybe I'm just used to it performing the way it does

I just switched my UDP for ATT to the shared data when adding a new phone to the plan it actually is working out better for me. 10GB shared with two owned phones plus discount puts the bill around 115 for me. Far better than the 90 i was paying for a single like with 450 mins and unlimited text and data.

I get throttled every month. Phone becomes useless. Check the GBs and yup, past 5 GBs.

Don't wanna give up what I signed up for, but the Shared Plans would ADD almost $30 more to my bills. SMH!

AT&T.

We have unlimited data from at&t on our family lines but realistically speaking at&t has no interest in getting rid of the throttle policy since it's not like you can sign up for unlimited with verizon anymore. I think at&t is following the "put up or shut up" policy.

More like put up or pay up... :(

I am grandfathered into the AT&T unlimited data plan on my iPad mini carried over from my original ipad. I mostly use wifi at home...but do use cellular when commuting & travelling. Definitely notice when they throttle me.
I thought att don't throttle ipad plans.
