if they have record of it in notes - just take it to the apple store to see what they say. I've seen Apple be very lenient on it before and they just replace the entire phone.

it basically depends on the genius guy you get

self righteous people on this forum are so annoying.

I would bet that most of those very same people, if put in the same position as the OP, would do the exact same, and see if Apple will still replace the phone.

Maybe, but most of us are more well-informed than the average user outside of these forums and know that physical damage almost always negates any free replacement.

Did you read my posts? smh I said I filmed my phone glitching out before it got smashed.

Did your video include a shot of the serial number? Else it could be any iPhone.

Was it jailbroken? What apps were crashing? What iOS were you on?

Tell us what happens after you take a trip to an Apple Genius, there's nothing the forum can do for you.

Usually in this case they would charge you to replace the screen to get you back in warranty, and then replace in warranty with a new device with a working mute switch.

Sounds backwards, but from an inventory perspective, all the parts go to the right places.

The good news is that if they had replaced your phone from the beginning due to the mute switch, you would probably still end up with a busted screen.

No, but in the video it showed the same layout of apps and text messages showing-- It was filmed on a table at Denny's at ****ing 5 in the morning and I was drunk as ****. So it wasn't because i wanted to trick Apple to get me a free replacement.

no it's not jail broken -- I don't know what apps were crashing -- I am on iOS 8.3 but it still happened at 8.1.3.

Well anyways I just bought a replacement, used my backup, and the "glitch" doesn't seem to happen anymore. So it was a ****ing hardware problem. And I had to pay for it even tho it would've been covered for free if the screen wasn't cracked. -__-

Did you buy AppleCare+ for the replacement, seems like it would be handy for your party lifestyle. Also some Credit Cards offer warranties on phones bought when using them including physical damage (which Apple offers zero warranty on)

Nope. I've accidentally smashed my iPhone before, and I went to the Apple store and paid up. I didn't ask for a free replacement because I know I was the one who messed up. Thankfully I had Applecare+.

Having a faulty switch sucks, but it evidently wasn't bad enough that the OP couldn't use it. In fact, he used it so hard that be busted it. And that's not Apple's fault, period.

There's nothing righteous about saying that. It just is what it is.

You have to be able to replicate the problem in store. A video won't help much. But it's broken now

Not quite true, I've had my 6 Plus replaced twice by two different Geniuses and they both accepted a video as good enough evidence. Both were intermittent problems (getting stuck in landscape and mute switch going on and off on its own.)
