Seriously..... you people read "I got an extra phone delivered" and automatically think criminal thief bad person... READ THE WHOLE POST, he clearly says "I want to return one, but I want to keep the applecare that I PURCHASED." The problem is not that he wants to keep both phones, it's that he wants to keep his applecare. Go back to school and take a critical reading class or something. I worry about people.

That's not true, at least not in the United States. Under some unsolicited mail law, you can't be guilty of a crime keeping something that is mailed to you without your request. If return is requested, you'll have to send it back, but not on your own dime.

Wrong. Its amazing to see the distortions people will use to justify their larcenous character.

Keeping something that you know does not belong to you is theft.

What you are referring to is a situation were a company sends you something unsolicited, then charged you for it.

The OP ordered it, signed for it, and has it in his possession.

Just return it.

Cause that exists.

Nobody's ethics are the same. You seem to be forgetting this.

While I would agree that people's ethical value systems may differ, I would suggest that there are fundamental similarities among and within different systems. Sating "nobody's ethics are the same" suggests that 6 billion + people have 6 billion + completely dissimilar value systems.

I would argue that there are underlying similarities in many different value systems. But cannot disagree that lots of people believe lots of different things. To those who believe stealing is right, I guess I would say to thine own self be true - and live with the consequences, if any.

Finally - there are some generally shared values (e.g.; do unto others...) that a large segment of many populations accept. But, ultimately individuals create their own value systems. So while there will be variability, I don't believe there are 6 billion + totally different systems.

There is an "if you can get away with it, do it" attitude that is very disturbing.

Uh, yeah. Have you looked out the window? Companies screw you, the government screws you, everyone screws you. Eventually there comes a point where someone says, "Damnit, I just wanna screw someone too", and then they do. It's vicious, it's not a cycle, it's a pyramid. But I do agree with you fwiw.

Agreed that screwing others seems to have become the national pastime.

But that doesn't mean you or I have to do it. Your point about responding to frustration is something we all experience. The trick is to suppress it as best we can. not to give in to impulses we know are wrong, hurtful, cruel, etc.

I realize it's a goal not always achieved. But it's worth the struggle.

"I just want to enter my home justified" (A major attaboy to anyone who gets that reference.):D

I would bet that the OP will be charged for BOTH phone as they are kind of careful about getting it charged to the CC and getting authorization BEFORE shipping.

I have ordered via AT&T and Apple and returned the one that came in last. Both were charged to my account and as one was not opened they gave me a full refund for it when returned.

heres what to do my friend,

1.use the phone you intend to keep
2.keep the one you dont and do not inform any company you have this phone
3.if you see a charge for the phone you dont want then ring up and say take it back coz its not what you wanted as you already have one
4. if you see no charge after 4 months do as you wish with the phone and say no more.
5.keep the money for the phone until 6 months has passed since receiving the phone so if they do charge you after youv sold it you have the money to pay them back and you lost out on a worthy chance to gain money
6.say no more about it.

Let me guess, you are not a lawyer...

Ouch this thread took a turn for the worse.. I just want to make sure I dont get charged some crazy amount for an unsubsized phone.. My intent is to return the phone if it wont cause me any problems... Also, I have apple care+ on the unopened phone...

I posted on the forum to see if anyone had any experience with this..

I appreciate the responses from the people who bothered to read the initial post..

EDIT: Interesting, I just noticed the charge for the opened phone has disappeared from my credit card (this would have been the second credit card rang up)...

Call apple and explain everything including the AppleCare issue.

Horrible advice. They are serialized, he would be guilty of a crime and it would be provable.

My advice is if the charge has been completely cleared off, wait like a week, and keep the phone.

Either give it to a family member, friend, or just sell it on craigslist.

Call apple. What is wrong with you?

I had some issues when ordering with ATT so I put an order with apple. Long story short, both phones arrived and Im not sure what to do..

I opened the ATT one and I am using it, but the Apple one is the one with Apple Care... I dont want to open the Apple one because im scared of getting charged some unsubsiszed price...

Anyone have anything similar? Can I go ahead and resell this online or to a friend?

Any ideas?

I have a question for you b/c I ordered one phone, I'm still waiting for it to arrive and when I check my order status I see the follow below. Did you see something similar with your order before it arrived?

I would just hold on to it for awhile incase they ask for it back or try to charge you for it.

If they don't say anything in a few months, it's whatever.
Yeah same issues with some yahoos when the 4's came out. IF he keeps it and nothing happens it's still stealing. Even if it's not "his fault".

Of course there will always be people such as yourself that feel it's ok to steal, but most people find this unacceptable.

Yeah because stealing is cool. Of course he said he paid for both but your obviously didn't see that part as you're encouraging him to steal one.

This^^^

As I mentioned in my post above, it seems the standard is "if you can get away with it, it's ok".

The ability to rationalize unethical behavior is just a delight. :(

Yes that's exactly how it looked

I thought I read he ordered them both but only paid for one.

If he paid for both of them, obviously its a non issue. If he only paid for one and got 2 and kept them, then that would be the theft.

Just an update- I still havent been charged by ATT. I wanted to wait to see what charge came through before I returned one of the phones...

Any reason I wouldnt have been charged yet? I dont want to call and say "Please charge me" but Im not sure what to do at this point.
