I didnt wash the keyboard. I guess I should have. ANy one have any tips for WASHING the keyboard on an i7 !?!?!?

Gamey.!!

None, it's fried at this point. I keep telling you and you keep ignoring the facts. You won't boot out of Safe Mode until you fix the faulty chipset at this point.

If you do, it won't be the same.

I tend to agree with you, but we cannot be 100% sure I suppose...he might as well give it a try. It is free, while a new logic board is not really......

True, but trying to poke and prod the chipset any longer will damage it and eventually the damage will be bigger than what it was originally.

JaV when you say "chipset" are you referring to the logicboard ? Can I ask what your background is ?

Im planning on opening the whole thing up again tomorrow. It could very well be the keyboard, the keyboard needs a good cleaning anyway.

In a worst case there is a place here that does liquid spill cleaning for $268, they claim to have a 99% success rate AND only charge if they get it up and running again.

I wonder what they do that I am not doing...

The fact its booting into safe mode could actually be as a result of a stuck key in the keyboard. Likelihood? Probably slim.

At worst case it's fried.. so disassembling and cleaning probably isn't going to kill it too badly.. I mean broke is broke, right?

You can actually clean electronics with water, albeit it's supposed to be de-ionized water. Distilled is about as close as most people have access to. There's also TV tuner/electronics spray that can be bought at Rad Shack.

Biggest issue is junk in the nooks and crannies causing connectivity where it shouldn't be, and also being gentle with the components since the SMT stuff is inherently fragile. Not hard to knock a component off a board being too agressive cleaning.

If it were mine I'd be like the OP.... I'd at least try.
