I'm not sure about the US, but I'm sure that it's still selling like hot cakes here in the UK.
practically every UK-based tech and mobile site, has the 3G as it's "Gadget Of The Year."
It's been over a year now since I discovered the wonders of Mobile OSX and I adore my iPhone today, every bit as much as I did when I first got it(1st gen iPhone & 3G). :D

nope.... Euro demand has weakened significantly..

the nearest o2 shop to me even had their guys out in the precinct trying to entice people in.

Well I became eligble to upgrade today and I really like it but my iPod got stolen a few months ago and I've been looking to get a replacement and I figured I like the iPhone and need an iPod so I'll get that but I currently have around 9.5 gigs of music and its only gonna get bigger and I dont wanna be stuck with having to pick and choose which songs go on my iPhone. Plus I plan on putting a lot of apps on there so I'll need the space for that.

I have nearly 20GB on my computer, and I only have about 6 on my iPhone. I bought the 16GB for the storage space, but I simply don't listen to a lot of my music often enough to miss it. Every once in a while, yeah, I find something I'm missing... but for the most part, I sync all of my favourite artists, and I also use Smart playlists to ensure that my most recent additions, top rated, and top played songs are synced... that way 90% of the time I have everything I'd ever want to listen to. :)

I would like all of my 16gb of music on my iphone plus videos and apps and I will get a 32gb phone the day it comes out. I think you did the right thing if it comes out in Jan or Feb. If it comes out in late summer, you'll probably kick yourself for waiting so long. The dilemma of upgrading to new tech is that it is then old tech...

Considering how well the iPhone retains it's value, I would say go for it now. You could always sell it back for more than what you paid for it. That's what I did when the 3G model came out.

thats only if they're unlocked
by the release of the 3G,locked first gen 8gigs were barley worth $200

I had a 16GB first gen and I sold it as soon as the 3G was announced. I got back every penny I paid for it. Heck, I had plenty of change left over when I bought the 3G.

Well I just got done deleting songs I don't listen to and I ended up deleting half of my library, I now have 3.87 gigs. I decided to get a iPhone tomorrow if I got under 8 gigs, and well, I surpassed my goal. Tomorrow I will be a proud iPhone owner.
