It seams Apple didn't have ANY Link bracelets ready to go for the 24th which is why I went with buying the Watch with Milanese then ordered the Link separately. I'll be getting my Link April 29th.

This is exactly what I did, I wanted them both, and I ordered the 42mm SS w/Link first, saw the delivery estimate, then ordered the 42m SS Milanese and the Link bracelet separate. I had been playing with the idea of selling the first one when it came in, but after seeing some folks on eBay getting less than what they paid for their auctions, and the fact that I am not a big fan of scalping myself, I decided to just cancel it and let the next one in line have it.

Hopefully they are just being ultra conservative just in case there isn't enough stock for the unknown demand before preorders opened.

People who saw the later date and skipped getting it may just free up enough stock to ship earlier to those who did preorder?

Who knows! But I feel like something strategic is going on, especially for how popular the link bracelet is/should be.

Edit:
Another point of "evidence" for this: the link bracelet ships faster separately than bundled with a watch??

I seriously find it hard to believe Apple will ship individual link bracelets before shipping actual Watch orders. This can mean a few things I think:

SS + Link orders will ship sooner

or

Band only orders are about to get delayed.

I placed my order by 8:02am UK time according to the Apple order confirmation e-mail (orders opened at 8:01am) and my space black SS watch with link bracelet is due for delivery between 12th May and 26th May.

I was on the store at exactly 8:01am and immediately I saw some watches like the Milanese loop were shipping for the 24th, but the space black SS link said 4-6 weeks from the word go.

They never had any available to ship for the 24th from what I can understand. As I doubt that they sold them all in under 10 seconds if they did have any.

Same here with my Space Grey SS AW, even down to the exact same time with the order confirmation email & delivery date.

Let's hope the delivery dates move closer, like rumours are implying

Thats definitely false. The bands are completely separate with their own packing and everything. Do you really think Apple is going to go, "Hmmm, we haven't shipped Watch's to these people so lets keep these bands sitting at our warehouse for no valid reason at all to make them pointlessly wait."

I, like others, will be getting separate bands starting on 4/29.

This. They are sold separately...in separate packaging. Apple made link bands available 4/29 on. You really think they are gonna scrap all the link bands they have packaged for that date to put them on your watch? Wishful thinking

You guys are lucky. I placed my order as soon as the stupid site would let me, checked out at 12:08 (Pacific, 3:08 Eastern, which is my time zone), and still my Black SS has a ship date of "June." Not even June nn, just June. Like, we don't even know what part of the month your watch will ship June. I'm not hopeful.

Interestingly, I ordered my daughter's watch in the same order. She got a Sport with white band. Hers is coming on launch day. Clearly they filled the US warehouses with certain models, and mine isn't even on a boat right now.

BTW, I mentioned to her that at least I could play around with hers when it comes, and got the evil stink eye. Clearly that isn't going to happen.

Do you honestly think Apple will package link bracelets individual while they sit around and go "Wow, wish we could move actual watches faster. Better get these stand alone bands out first that can't do anything without a watch!"

Why do you think Apple is pushing the watch out to big name celebrities, fashion folks, and media? This product is the first major product post Steve Jobs. It HAS to do well, and for a watch to do well you need to get as many functioning units out the door. Not useless bands without a watch to go with them. The final factor to consider is the Stainless Steel + Link packages are the most expensive watch model outside of edition. This is for buyers who are dropping top dollar period, and expect a specific level of care for said dollar. It's basic math at this point.

So be prepared for a delay if dates don't shift forward, and work on your reasoning skills in the future.

Here's what we do know...they stated the link bands start shipping the 29th...the link watch 4-6 weeks.

It's not as simple as "let's delay all the link bands we sold under 4/29 and put them on all these SS watches, we sold at 4-6 weeks."

There's a reason they delayed the regular link and the space black watches even further than others. There's obviously something more to it, that none of us will know. I just wouldn't assume you're going to be so privileged they are gonna delay others orders to advance yours then insult them to work on their reasoning skills

Seriously?! I'm looking at an order page right now that says my Link Bracelet is arriving around 4/29. What do you not understand about Link Bracelets being packaged on their own? Are you upset about having to wait a long time for your  Watch with Link Bracelet because you didn't buy it separately as many of us here did?

"This is for buyers who are dropping top dollar period, and expect a specific level of care for said dollar."
If this is indeed true, I'd be pretty high on Apple's "Top Dollar" list excluding Edition purchases as I purchased every type of band for my Watch.

Regardless, once I receive my Link Bracelet to go along with my Milanese & Leather Loop around 4/29 I'll be sure to come back and let you know. Sorry that you aren't getting your Watch for a long time.

My goodness you're a slow one. I'll repeat the obvious for you, you'll get it this time champ:

Do you honestly think Apple will package link bracelets individual while they sit around and go "Wow, wish we could move actual watches faster. Better get these stand alone bands out first that can't do anything without a watch!"

Addition: It's not like they have a separate manufacturing process for the link bracelets standing alone versus the ones to be packaged. That's not how manufacturing works.

Sigh, I can't waste anymore time with you. Go ahead and parade around as much as you want, I've got a pretty good feeling we'll see improved shipping dates (the initial and primary point I marked, and you so happily ignored) since the individual bands have a different date.

Get that? Good, you're learning fast sport!

In before you rage comment back, but go on and waste your time. Oh no wait thank god for ignore lists :D !

You seem like a lovely person.

You're right, I can't believe he didn't get it. They're are definitely taking other peoples confirmed orders and giving them to people like you with a 4-6 week shipping date. On behalf of the slow one they call Champ...AKA Sport... apologies

It's actually pretty weird that Apple will ship the standalone link bracelet orders before watch+link orders,

Dude it is steel. An accident that can damage it will be an accident that could crush or cut open your wrist. Small incidental scratches can be polished or buffed out, I assume.

True, but I'm talking about eligible accidental damage such as if it gets crushed during a freak accident while charging, etc. Scratches aren't covered under AC+ anyway as they are considered normal wear and tear. Additionally, for those without Amex, AC+ also doubles the warranty to cover defects (if the clasp malfunctions during the second year, you won't be out $449).

I seriously doubt that the bottleneck for shipping watched would be the link bracelets. Yes the 2 of them are made from the same materials, but the real bottleneck would be the yeild rates of the watch screens, happens everytime a new iPhone or iPad comes out. Manufacturing irons out the flaws as the product continue to ship ... they just dont ship out as many as they would like.

That's a good point. I hadn't thought of that. There must have been a significant number of people who had added the Black SS as a favorite but didn't order it due to the delay. Since Apple was obviously using the number of watches favorited to gauge demand, that should be a good thing for those of us who decided to order and wait. I would imagine we will be seeing an updated ship date soon.

Hear that everyone? He has a pretty good feeling! Case closed, Apple is surely going to make people wait for their individual Link Bracelets for no reason even though they have already given us early ship dates for them!

In all seriousness, you sure do seem butt-hurt. I'm sure it pains you deeply and internally that I'll have the Apple Watch with five bands before you have the Apple Watch at all but as the saying goes, "Life's not fair."

It is "seem" not "seam."

And you could be a lot nicer, to say the least.
