Agreed on the bump request, anyone overseas have a chance to test the sprint 4s yet? And can anyone offer any insight on whether or not Sprint really has the ability to relock the IMEI's in Apple's system, or is it just a PR attempt to prevent mass international export of their phones?

Tested a UK and Swiss sim and it's unlocked!! You also don't need to connect to wifi or itunes (I saw this mentioned in another thread) for it to pick up the new carrier. Just pop in a foreign sim and you're good to go. No call to Sprint needed, but I'm afraid they may decide to roll out a software update to relock at a future date without letting customers know.

*** Clarification: Sprint is unlocked for use with foreign SIM cards only. The CDMA is still locked to sprint, and US GSM carriers (AT&T) are blocked. Therefore using a local AT&T sim will still get you the "invalid sim card" error.

Awesome GG! Since all updates to iPhones have to be pushed by apple. I believe if we simply avoid the updates we can avoid sprint doing anything. On the other hand they might not be able to do anything about it at this point and all their talk about locking it after the fact is a bluf.

does the sprint version need to be activated?
im thinking about buying one off of Craigslist and using it overseas

how is the sprint unlock going?

i am confused which one to get, Verizon OR Sprint OR unlocked iPhone 4S at full price.

anyone who has sprint can try straight talk GSM sim card? one posted said it is using ATT 3G may be faster than t-mobile's EDGE speed.

I am gifted with an ability called "Logical Reasoning" :D

I will give 2:1 odds on a $500 bet to the first responder who thinks that they can take a Sprint iPhone 4S out of the box, put in an AT&T SIM, and use the phone for anything other than emergency calls.

I was the first one to respond to the thread with actual results. Yeah it does not work.
