Same design faster phone

Kinda like iphone 3g to 3GS

The iphone 4 seems real fast to me

I have fakeclockup installed & it speeds up the GUI animation

The next iphone will have an A5 chip right

Is there another phone on the market that has this or something similar

I would like to see a video of the phone in action

With IOS 5 i dont think there going to offer something that cydia doesnt all ready give you

What do you guys think ?

I'm not surprised, considering how the 3G became the 3GS

It's hard to say what iOS 5 will bring, but you're right on the JB thing.

I think it'll have a 4" screen. Apple would be stupid to not go that route.

And just because early developers have their hands on an i4 with an A5 doesnt mean anything about the i5. Apple just wants to give them a chance to develop using the chip that'll end up in the iPhone.

P.S. 3G to 3GS was the biggest update in iPhone history. Its all about internals.

I don't agree, personally I would say the 2G to 3G jump takes the cake.

Really? Cause I'd say that is the absolute bare minimum in terms of change. Every major internal component is the same between the 2G and 3G. Same processor, same GPU, same everything. They just added a 3G radio. Definitely the smallest update thus far.

In terms of naming, calling it the "iPhone 4S" makes no sense in my opinion.

The second generation iPhone was allowed to have "3G" in it because of the 3G capabilities. The iPhone that followed couldn't be called "iPhone 4" because it was the 3rd iPhone, and it couldn't be called the "iPhone 3" because it would be confused with "3G". So adding the "s" to it made sense because it then allowed the numbers to match up the version of iPhone they corresponded to, and in terms of marketing consumers would eat up the "s" that referred to "speed."

The iPhone 4 made sense, it was the fourth generation iPhone. If they name the next iPhone with "4S" it won't make sense to me because the iPhone 4 is already quicker than the 3GS that already refers to speed. And then the iPhone following it would be the sixth iPhone and I don't know if they'd just skip the "iPhone 5" name and go to 6. It just doesn't make sense. Also it would be better to market it as iPhone 5 with A5 chip and iOS 5.

I'm thinking that they just ultimately have to drop the numbers soon and simply refer to it as the "New iPhone", because how ridiculous is it going to sound referring to your iPhone with such large numbers?

Can we sticky this or something

The rumor doesn't say the next iPhone will only be a '4S' update (even though 3G->3GS was a major update)...it just says that there are prototype iPhone 4s that have an A5 processor for select developers to optimize their apps for the new chip.

Apple did a similar thing after the Intel announcement The "Developer Transition Kit" was a PowerMac G5 with a Pentium 4 chip instead of the G5.

Not gonna happen, I know why you think this though. Because of the game developer anonymously claiming to have the "iPhone 4S" with an A5 processor. I don't doubt he has one like that though.

Apple's just testing out the processor on the iPhone 4 to see how it works on a device smaller than the iPad 2 though. They have no reason to release an iPhone 5 prototype that has the look and feel of what the iPhone 5 will be. They don't need to test that, you dont test aesthetics. Plus it's only dubbed the 4S buy the game developer. No valid support for it.

The next upgrade to the iPhone family will be the iPhone 5, Apple's just testing the processor in an iPhone 4 for game developers to get a head start.

Agreed. All of these people throwing around "4S" or the even more obnoxious "4GS" are ridiculous. Maybe "5" isn't going to be the real name, but it makes sense to call it that for now at least.

You have to wonder how the changes in AT&T's early upgrade policy are going to impact sales. Many early adopters are those who were eligible every 12 months. Now it appears 17 months is the earliest for those users and most people will have to wait close to two years.

Diehard fans will are willing to go through the steps of selling their old phone to put towards a non-discounted unit. But how many casual users will be happy using an IP4 that is holding up very well for a phone that's about to be a year old.

don't care what it's called or what it has. the current iPhone serves well in my life and i'm 99% sure i'm gonna skip the next version. i'm not into technology as much as i was before.
