Few minor scratches that you can see under certain angles is much better than a big ugly case you can see ALL the time. So don't worry about scratches too much :)

Exactly. The back holds up much better than the plastic on the previous models so not sure why people are complaining about it!

back is mint because i have a zagg's invisible shield on it
stainless rims are mint because i have a bumper on it
front screen is naked and looks mint
home button has many micro scratches viewable on an angle in bright light

very happy so far :D

Same here, exactly in fact! I've never had screen protector on any of my previous phone and have not marked them at all. That said my sis in law has my old 3G now and it's really badly scratched, guess I just take care of my devices.

Not sure If I prefer the phone with or without the bumper yet, still trying to decide. It's a beautifully made bit of kit but the bumper neither adds or takes away from that.

Went about a week with it completely naked, then got my bumper and Wrapsol. Mine looks immaculate so far and I'm hoping to keep it that way.

I've got Power Support film on front and back. Only got a single scratch on the back before I put it on, so it's pretty much perfect.

And about cases.. That's just such a shame for such a brilliant piece of design. I'd have to have a damn good reason for putting one on..

1 scratch on the back at the top-left corner near the camera. Happened around a week after launch. Since then, nothing. Looks mint. Had the free bumper on it for about a week but hated the look and feel of the phone so gone naked again. Holding up alot better than my 3G for scratches anyway...

Mine still looks fantastic.

Honestly, I'm not even going to TRY to find any scratches or the tiniest flaws. If I don't look for issues, it won't be an issue. I want a peace of mind. I don't expect it to be flawless forever.

It is refreshing to hear folks who have minor flaws, but don't care anymore. No fear. No weakness to a "material" thing that can be replaced. You can still love it unconditionally even with the flaws. Less shallow. Its been almost two months, so who cares really? Is 1-2 tiny scratches really going to make a huge difference in resale value? Just enjoy the damn phone! Let us continue to enjoy for what it is. An important tool. Not a diamond ring or Bentley. I would understand a Gressor Luxor phone for a $1M where only three are made, but an iPhone 4? If I eventually get flaws on mine, oh well! *shrugs* Shows that MR folks isn't completely filled with OCD, whiney babies.

Surprisingly, mine still looks fantastic even though I've dropped it a few times (thank god for cases).

Just picked up a Candyshell for it today. The Fitted Case from the Apple program saved it from those falls but the Candyshell is the boss. :D

Used a bumper off an on for the first month. Then went naked for two weeks. Now, Incase slider and very happy. No scratches, that I'm aware of. Haven't taken it out of the slider since I got it, though.

Got a cm long scratch on the back from when my friend moved it a bit on a table, doesn't bother me though as I can't even see it unless it's at an angle in direct light. Plus I'm not looking to sell it for two years anyway, and one of those websites bought my pretty damaged 3G for £120 so I'm fine with getting that same price again.

Not one scratch so far (I have only had the phone 3 weeks though)

Most of that time the phones been naked, but now I use a bumper which I quite like, makes it more grippy and less prone to slip outta your hands.

Using since launch day without any case or screen/back protector. Home button is riddled with several dozens of scratches, but they show up only at an angle. Not a single scratch on the front or the back glass though.

SGP ultra clear front and rear. 2 light scratches on the back. flawless on the front. Just like right out of the box

Mine still looks really good without using a case. There are a couple of scratches on the glass back, but you can only see them at a fairly specific angle, so I don't view that as that big of a problem. Nothing like the mirror back on the iPod touches that become a blurred mess in a week. :D

Not a scratch. Had invisible shield front and back and sides. Switched that out for ghost armor full body, front, sides and back.

My iP4 looks great on the front and back, but the stainless steel band is scratched in a few places from the bumper.

I have a minor search on the back just from the first couple of days I had it before buying a case. Now I use a candyshell and no screen protector. The front is flawless (minus the home button as others have mentioned). Personally I know I will drop my phone at some point so a case is the way to go for me.
