2400c was a better portable for its time because it was smaller and had two PC Card slots..

2400c didn't have a CD drive (optional external add-on) and the floppy drive was a separate external unit too. it wasn't as complete as the 12" PB, though i guess the 2400c is comparable to the MBA in terms of performance (for the time) and size. i still really really wanted one, but couldn't afford $3500 ten years ago.

I also sold my 12" PB to upgrade to a first-generation BlackBook. I missed the 12" horribly and did not enjoy the BlackBook one little bit, even with the increased computing power. But my new MacBook Air is slowly replacing the 12" PB's place in my heart...

I know what you mean.. I nearly got a blackbook instead of a macbook Pro, but I need the Aluminium!

I started out on a 12" 867 mhz, and upgraded to a 1.5 12". I eventually traded it in on a dual g5 powermac because I wasn't on the road so often, and wanted the extra power for handbrake, virtual pc and the like.

They were both good, sweet solid little machines, perfect for light browsing, word processing around the house, etc. My dad recently bought a 12" ibook, and while I had it at the house upgrading tiger, I forgot how much I missed that form factor.

Is it just me, or would Apple have sold a s#^%load of machines with the 12" form factor? I can't believe Apple didn't make the Air into a similar shape. Could you imagine how light and portable that would have been?

Someone should try and hack an intelmac mini logic board into a 12" Powerbook case.
