If I don't want or like Apple products, I don't need some smug little pr*ck telling me I suck and asking what I have against Steve Jobs and the corporation, reminding me he's dying of cancer.

Goodness! Who said this? Oh right, nobody at all, camelsnot is making things up again. You'd swear he was getting paid to do this.

Only complaint I have is the display. No HD = no sale. I will wait patiently for my iPad 3 or 4 or whenever it becomes feasible, though the fact that there's a prototype suggests sooner rather than later.

Being a very popular netbook site owner, I hate iPad as I find that my $200 netbook keeps me more productive than iPad. Oh, and I can also run a variety of media files without any conversion. It is not slow by any means too - has 2GB RAM, 320GB HDD and is fast enough. People complain that netbooks are slow, but they don't mention that they don't know how to maintain them in order to keep them speedy.

Since my netbook runs Windows, I don't have any problem 'finding' apps for it.

BTW, none of my computers running windows have been infected by Viruses. And no, there is no anti virus installed on any of them.

That said, I don't want any tablet running smartphone OS. I may get a Windows 7 tablet if some (reputed) manufacture starts offering one for below 350 dollars and that too with removable battery.

I suggest that you quit being cheap and get a real man's laptop, and then see how you feel about the netbook.

iOS is not a 'smartphone' OS, it's a mobile device OS. Do you know how to use an iPod Touch or iPhone ? Then you know how to use an iPad. They are all mobile devices. Hey guess what, you can use you Touch/iPhone apps on your iPad and you can use the universal apps on your iPad on your Touch or iPhone. Pretty cool

The Zune was a good product but it wasn't any better than the iPod Touch, just different. Apple sensed the upcoming change in the market and adjusted accordingly and Microsoft didn't. Yet to the Apple contrarians, it just seems people couldn't see a clearly better product in the Zune and instead bought the Apple logo just because of "marketing."

As a sidenote the Zune HD was one of the few major products that used the Tegra 1 and unfortunately its general hardware specs lagged behind the iPod Touch. Maybe the Tegra brand is cursed.

I bought the Apple logo because of the integration. Open iTunes, subscribe to podcast, bam they are automatically downloaded. Plug in iPod, bam podcast are on the device. I still have a working 1st gen Nano, but I use a third. All my friends that buy anything other than iPods (to include Zunes) can't get them to last much over a year. The cheaper ones only last a few months. Problem 2 with Zunes is the subscription service was a good idea, until the device wanted to verify your subscription, usually when wireless was not available. So the device just shuts off.

back to the REAL subject at hand about hate.

I think it has to do more with some of the smugness and the cult-like sheep that surround Apple. I can't use the correct term as it's not allowed on these forums, apparently.

It comes down to.. .use what you want to use. If I don't want or like Apple products, I don't need some smug little pr*ck telling me I suck and asking what I have against Steve Jobs and the corporation, reminding me he's dying of cancer. Like that's supposed to change my opinion of Apple or of Steve. After a while, hearing the same bs rhetoric, you get jaded by it.

I also don't need to be force fed a bunch of crap about how open iOS is, and how the Apple community is centered around harmony and unity between the consumer and their piece of hardware. Really? It's an electronic device.. get over yourself. As much effort as some smug clowns put into trying to convince themselves and the world that we need Apple, they could be using that effort and money to better themselves and their community.

Apple will fail eventually. All big companies that get too big and have big egos to match eventually become their own device of demise. As big as Steve Jobs ego is, it's only a matter of time. It may be 10 years time.. but years from now you'll look back at the timeline and see the points which caused the demise. You can see it with the choices companies like IBM and Microsoft made.

That being said, I have an ipad 2, 2 ipods, mac book pro, hp laptop, Droid phone, various home built pcs and other devices. No, I'm not an Apple fan. I'm a person that uses what I want to use with no belief in a specific brand loyalty. All brands let you down. All companies have skeletons in their closet.

This isn't religion so get over it. If someone wants a Xoom, let them buy it. If it works for them, great.. if not, resist the dickish urge to say "mmeeeh told you so". Passive aggressive isn't a flattering color.

Very few people here really care. You either get it or you don't. You obviously don't. Maybe a different forum would suit you better. Maybe it's time that you moved on to somewhere else?

Yes if someone wants a Xoom, that's fine, buy it, but don't try to shove it down our throats. We (I) don't care.

Xoom is junk! It's heavy, looks and feels like a cheap plastic in my hand. It's expensive, difficult to use, not smooth. Sorry...it will not sell. If you hand Xoom to a stranger who has never use iPad or any tablets they will be so confused how to use it. When over to another counter with iPad 2...feels great in my hand. Once you pick it up you just want to buy one right away. Apple nailed the industrial design.

An example of the annoyance I'm having with the IPad.

i'm trying very hard to like my IPad 2. Tasks that are so simple in Microsoft Word seem impossible in Pages. There's a simple form I created using tables that I would love to have on my Ipad to then fill out. Imported into pages and it showed up whacked. Tried creating the same table in pages and can't seem to figure out how to make the exact table - some merged, some a dif. cell size, etc. This is so easy in Word. People tell me all the time Apple is easier but I've always been able to make any microsoft program do what I need it to. The apple programs seem so limiting. (i.e. - ITunes hates my Emusic.com downloads - they just randomly disappear)

This is an example of a simple task I'm trying to do on the Ipad and pretty much the main reason I bought it. To have this form to fill out on the go then email and not have to carry a laptop. But two days in and I still can't get it to do this for me - a simple form. And yes i've tried PDFing and Goodreader and several other PDF apps.

You do realize that, even though Apple products are often easier to use than Windows counterparts, you still have to learn the Apple way to do them. Shortcuts and commands that you have learned for Excel don't necessarily apply on the iOS. So be careful.

I think that ditching your iPad because you're not finding that Pages or Numbers don't feel intuitive to you as a Windows user is sort of a wrong-headed way to approach it.

But, that said, if you're looking for someone to take that iPad 2 off your hands....:)
