So many topics and pics, but where's the Space Gray?

Where are all the Space Gray people at? I ordered this version and it seems just about every pic uploaded on the forums is a silver model (looks great, by the way!).

Can some Space Gray people post pics in here of their phone? Anybody go to a store today expecting to purchase a silver and ultimately changed their mind for gray after seeing it?

I don't think you can go wrong either way, personally. Just wanting to see the other color option!

Space gray was my choice. The glass back enhances the look as well.

I have SG, but it’s already got a case on it. The back is a a smudged mess after every use otherwise.

I'd love to hear how your PVD coatings hold up.

In store, checked 3-4 of each colour, and the naked SS clearly has scratches all over the lightning port just from people using it on its first day of demo.

The Space Grey PVD are mostly intact, with the exception of one (out of 4), which managed to get scratched through to the SS.


While not exactly the same type of finish, or the same type of texture, here's how PVD wears on something also daily-worn. Quick search shows a handsome collection...

I already covered mine up with a case/screen protector. My job demands I have it, as having it means more money for me. I also have a 5 year old. Things happen.

Picked up my 256 SG at 3:00pm. Couldn't be happier. My favorite iPhones are the 1st Gen and #4. This is like they had a baby. I'm going caseless - I'm an adult and have apple care. Had a case for 5, 6 and 7 – they were all too slick, needed the case for gripping. Glass back is where it's at. Yes the back shows finger prints, but 1/2 as much as the jet black from series 7. It's the exact reason they went with a slight gray and silver. Black and white would have shown more. Absolute perfection.

Wife has the silver, I have the SG. She’s already scratched up her band and, while you can only see it in direct lighting, it’s not as much ‘brushed’ as it polished. Over time, that’s going to look very beat up as that band catches more light than the dark screen or even the back. It’s just the orientation of the band when it’s lying flat.

Not that it matters all that much once you put a case on it though. Most cases hug the camera lens so much that if it’s a full case with no exposed edges, you won’t know if it’s a silver or SG.

After years of Silver iPhones, I went for space gray and it is absolutely stunning, it’s like a slab of black. I know that the silver seems like the more popular color but in my local Apple Store it was the space gray that sold out first

SG here to and I put it in a clear case otherwise the colour is irrelevant if your hiding it in a case.

I was 110% convinced I would get silver. It was 100% the day after the keynote. Once I saw both in person, it became space gray. Neither colors wow me because the design is kinda whatever on the back and sides.

I posted some videos on the color/storage thread especially with a kid preferring space gray after he got a silver. Here is another one who prefers space gray.

Space gray is just better. Silver will show scratches but also when you watch a video, that shine and also white borders can get distracting. Both will attract plenty of fingerprints and get sticky over time. Case just defeats the purpose of picking a color and showing off the design.

My hatred for glass-rears came out yesterday though. Going to miss aluminum rears of the 7. The best iPhone rear design ever is the space gray 5s/SE.

I got both but going with space grey. Put it right in a case anyway. Don’t like the chrome.
