Yeah its fine for your iPhone, if it start splitting really bad, it won't sync anymore, had that happen last year. Just make an iPhone genius appointment and they will replace it.

Yupp. If I ever see a friend's broken pair I ask for them, free new backup pair for me .

There is no safety issue if the screening braid is exposed because it is at earth (ground) potential.

I've never had one of my chords fray, I've seen my friends do it though. Mine is plugged into a dock though and doesn't see much abuse I'm guessing.

I use mine several times daily and I've still got cords in fine condition as far back as the fourth gen original iPod.

I never understood these posts, what does this do for a guy who's asking how/if he can get his damaged USB cord replaced?
