Couldn't you do a Remote Wipe of the phone? Then the iPhone bricks itself (protecting all your information). That's what I remember the keynote describing anyway......or was that only for Enterprise?

Why didn't you do a Remote Wipe of the phone? Then the iPhone bricks itself and it's useless (protecting all your information). That's the first thing I would have done.....and would still do. I'm not sure if you call Apple or AT&T for that.

i thought this was only a feature available to certain businesses that requested it for their employees?

^^ Yeah, I realized that RIGHT after I submitted my post....then edited it. LOL. I did some research and found it's for Enterprise. It would be a GREAT feature to offer to everyone though. Hopefully AT&T/Apple would offer it soon to all.

no worries. yeah would be a pretty cool feature. imagine having a big red "KILL" switch on iTunes.lol.

so this guy is practically giving away his information to you... and you don't want to get your phone back?

i'm sorry i would wait a while until I had as much information as possible, then completely brain **** him. i'd screw with him for the rest of his life. get him back, you deserve it.

first thing you should do is try and get his home address and go to a pay phone and then swat him.

immature? yes.
worth it? absolutely.

So your saying that I should open my email account back up to IMAP forwarding in the hopes that the person keeps on using it to give me information?

I have thought about this too, just not sure I want the risk.

Is this guy that stole your phone brain dead? I mean, if I stole a phone the first thing I would do is wipe the data. This idiot deserves to get caught for so many reasons.

Sounds like something for the power of digg...

He just tried to create a myspace account with my e-mail. Why would he do that? Anyway I emailed myspace privacy and told them that any information about the person trying to create the account would be helpful.
What's Myspace?

But seriously, in case they won't do that (give you the information), could you not go to log in, enter your email, and say you forgot the password, potentially sending your email address some way to change the password? I'm never used Myspace so I'm not sure if they have a system like this, but it may be worth a try.
I just tried, it appears that you can.

Best revenge is to post them online for all to see.

No one would look. But the girlfriend need not know that. Put them on-line and send her and e-mail with the link and a note about way you got them. The only person who really needs to see the photos is the girl herself. That will likely really make her mad at the guywho took your phone

The problem is, he never got the confirmation e-mail, so he was never able to fill in his information.

Oh, sorry, I wasn't clear about that. In that case, I would say give him back access to the IMAP account and see what happens. Do you have the girlfriend's full name?

Sure, give him back access to your email account. Gather all the evidence you can. Let him hang himself. :D

Yes I have the girls full name, though i am not sure if she is a girlfriend

Would he still be able to send e-mails via my account through SMTP? I have a suspicious IP address that accesed my account. What can i find out with an IP address?

Nothing. You collect all information and then hand it over to the police. Contact ICE and the FBI.

He doesn't have your password, so he can only get to your mail through your iPhone (password is in memory). An IP address would probably just lead you to the ISP. Only the police could take it to the next step.

Give him back access, get the Myspace PW, then post the nude pics on his Myspace, send GF a little heads-up.

Why does the OP keep on making this thread longer and longer with random questions? What if this isn't his girlfriend and is just some random girl who might not even be 18, so posting it on the internet could make you go to jail for child porn.

Also if it is his girlfriend, judging from the type of person he is (thief), you could really screw yourself if you were to release the pictures, instead of you going to him, he might come after you the same way since HE has most of your information as well. Stop asking wether or not it is his girlfriend in every post please...just go to the police, police or police. Did I mention you should go to the P-O-L-I-C-E?

I never asked if it was his girlfriend. My questions are not random, and I am going through the police.

Turn the imap back on create a very simple document in word with everything plainly listed for the police as much information as you can get (less effort for them more likely to go and grab the crime and get another collar)

Go to the hotel with photo's of the people, naked don't mention stolen iPhone just ask if said person works here don't give too much information.

If he/she does then you will even have a place to send the police perhaps with name.

This is a ridiculously long thread for such a simple solution.

Just make sure you give us updates!!

particularly if you choose to use the ol' second ammendment on their asses.

Your beloved iphone is sitting there saying 'alex3540, come save me, please daddy'

Good Luck, you should get this back, he stole from you, that's your posession stolen that you have a right to recover.
