Very simple sticky back velvet. 30 seconds to fit. Now let’s see if they stop the ring imprint on cases and phones

I had an even bigger ring from using the Mag Fit and have ditched it. It seems the magnet pull is clamping the leather so you'll get the ring either way.

Those velvet rings though.....you may be on to something.

Well the reviews seemed good. The proof will be when I test it tonight.
I think that you are right about the leather being clamped by the magnetic pull from both sides

Hmmm. I've been making the same sort of thing, a self adhesive microsuede pad, but for the back, as the puck slides all over my desk. It works well. I haven't had issues with the ring marking my case at all though, but that's because they're hard as nails :)

Hmm. It's seem to have effect. But imprint is that fast? Does it take time to leave imprint in case and phone?
I haven't try the magsafe yet so i don't know about it.
Well I got an imprint that wiped off after two days of charging. From what I have heard, the longer you charge it over a number of days, the more apparent the imprint becomes to a point where it is impossible to remove

Hmm. So we will need longer to see it would have effect or not. Are you using apple’s MagSafe charger? Will third parties’s MagSafe have the same effect?

I am using Apple MagSafe chargers. I’ve no idea about the third-party ones but I wouldn’t risk it with third parties because if the phone gets damaged, Apple may nit honour the phone warranty for non-approved third party chargers

I just received my MagSafe two days ago. I am also getting the imprint on my Apple Silicone Case. Anyone that is used their phone without a case getting the imprint too, as I will go caseless again after Christmas? What does everyone think is causing the imprint? Heat issues?

Too bad about the imprints and surprised Apple did not figure that out when making this product. Really is a sleek product, that will be awesome once I start traveling a lot again. Maybe by then they will have MagSafe 2 charger? :)

Only other thing it needs is a USB-C connection.

Be careful as there are also reports that the phones are getting imprints when going caseless

It seems to me that just placing a microfiber cloth between the phone and the charger or the case and the charger will prevent a ring from forming.

I can see an imprint on my Apple leather case with only the use of the Apple wallet. I doubt these will do anything. I'm just embracing the imprint.

That is a bummer this is happening? Did the Apple Team that came up with this not see this as an issue? Crazy.

But if that, only the magnetic will lower or it will also lower the charging power too?

The ring shown in this thread would do more to reduce the magnetic power. I don't know if the charging power is reduced by introducing a case or something as thin as a microfiber cloth.

I would be careful when using anything with a velvet backing, especially given that it is a very thin layer. If I'm not mistaken, over time the velvet will degrade and you also have to consider whether or not the dye used will transfer to whatever case you are using if/when the MagSafe heats while charging. Nice concept, but I would like to see a different material used before considering as a purchase.

Yes you’re right and what is disappointing is I charged up the phone today and when I lifted the phone up there was still a ring on the leather case so the ring protector hasn’t helped at all

Wow! I'm glad I didn't just jump right in and order it. It's pretty worthless if it doesn't stop
the ring.
