On the flip side, I'm wondering if the return rate will be higher than for other Apple notebooks. I'd be surprised if it wasn't. The question is whether it will be higher than Apple is projecting for this product.

I put electrical tape over the one for my rMBP...the green light was too bright at night in my bedroom.

I'm sure it's a useful feature for some, but it won't be missed by myself.

In the future USB-C will be so widespread and cheap i wouldn't be surprised to see a third-party making a charging cable with integrated LED. Maybe even some sort of magnetic adapter to make it similar to MagSafe.

There is no such thing as USB-C "charging cable". There is just USB-C cable - like the one Apple will be including with rMB. That's the beauty of USB-C charging - no special charging cables, the same cable can be used for charging and anything else.

Do you miss not having LED indicator in your iPad lightning cable / charger? No? Then I am sure you will survive without one with USB-C.

Somehow 12" and retina are an oxymoron to me. 12" is just to small for me. I spend too much time scrolling on a 13". Cramming more on a 12" screen is crazy.

That's why I plan to stay in native mode (and use my reading glasses). :)

Think how I feel. My MacBook still has the little green dot battery life indicator on its side.

Its actually a feature I still use all the time, but I'm betting I won't miss it that much when I start carrying around the ultra lightweight rMB!

If you lift the lid while the MacBook is charging, then unplug the charge cable and plug it back in, the screen will show a battery icon with the charge level.

I guess I just find it very useful. I haven't found any thread talking about this specific feature. I'll be getting one myself, it's just that this will be the first MacBook to lack attention to small detail.
There is plenty of attention to small details on the MacBook. However, they switched to an industry-standard charging port. Also, Apple has positioned this more like a mobile device, none of which have charging indicators.
