Maybe there will be a update soon.
Buyers guide says there are only about 2~3 weeks to go, but it definitely will be longer than that - which is about 4~6 weeks. Maybe this Nov or Dec.
You'd better wait.
I was all set to buy my first Mac, that being a MacbookPro (basic 13 inch), however today has just shown that next summer if I get one now then my MBP would probs have a new OS, and even a new look (the air type Slope) and maybe even flash memory. Who is to say that a MBP now will be fast enough to run a Lion update?
I know trying to keep up to date with tech is a fools game, however when I know that so much better is around the corner I just can't help but feel that if I buy now I really will feel ripped off.

Sandy Bridge chips are expected to go on sale late this year, making it likely that they'll find their way into Macs by early 2011.
"I am more excited by Sandy Bridge than I have been in any product that the company has launched in a number of years," Otellini said. "Due to the very strong reception of Sandy Bridge, we have accelerated our 32-nanometer factory ramp and have raised our capex guidance to enable us to meet the anticipated demand."
so apple didnt release new macbook pros, just airs. Should I wait to buy my first mac or just go ahead and buy one now???
I've wasted so much time reading and thinking about this, I could probably have grinded out enough money to just buy one by now... sigh.
I'm planning on buying a top of the line 15" model that will cost about $4500 and I will keep it for at least 3 years. However, I feel that I'm buying a 6-month old MBP since there is only a minor CPU speed bump. Moreover, the upgrade is extremely overpriced.
BTW: If I buy one now but sell it to get the next generation, what % of its value today am I likely to get back?
