My wife has had the 2 for a while. I was never interested because the display wasn't great compared to the other displays I own. The retina iPad fixed that and made it a definite buy for me.

I bought in NY my first iPad, an iPad 2. Great experience and really worth the money! (The only disadvantage is the must have of an Credit Card which isn't usual in the Netherlands. I do have a Credit Card but I can imagine that it isn't quiet handy for the Dutch people).

When the iPad 3 (or New iPad) was announced I directly sold my previous one and stand in line for the brand New iPad. Worth the money because the Retina-display is really really amazing!

I find myself using the 3rd gen iPad much more than I used my iPad 2. Reading in iBooks, surfing the web, and responding to emails is much more enjoyable to me with a screen this good. I do wonder, however, what will happen once retina type screens are available across the entire mac lineup and if I will revert back to using my macbook as my main device like I did before.

For only a $100 upgrade fee after I sold the iPad 2, I am extremely happy with the new iPad.

Yesterday my iPad was out of charge so I spent an hour on the spare ipad2, man that screen sucks suddenly! Oh no, once this MBP arrives I'm going to hate all other computers, and probably my 30" monitor too....

It was worthwhile since with the sale of my iPad 2 the new one didn't cost much at all. The new display made a big difference for reading on the iPad.

I was torn, someone I know got a "new" iPad as soon as they were avail at our local NEX...I compared my original iPad to their iPad2 and new iPad but I wasn't all that impressed with differences between the 3 units execpt that I wanted to gift my original iPad and get something newer for myself with 64Gb of storage (coming from my 32Gb 3G model)...I couldn't get a NIB iPad2 that size as they were sold out so I picked up a 32Gb 3G model NIB for $619 but two days later I saw an open box 64Gb 4G new iPad and it was only $738 = back the iPad2 went and I thought the new iPad was a great purchase!

Yes it gets warmer than the original/iPad2 however, the better screen, double the RAM, 64Gb storage, better camera and "upgraded" CPU/GPU were the smarter choice for $119 more = yes I'm happy with the purchase:D

I really like the screen on the new iPad but I didn't think the screen on my original iPad was bad at all either.

I had the opportunity to sell my iPad 2 in the week of March Keynote so I get the new one with a relatively small investment, undoubtedly it's great but let me say that I wouldn't have paid it's entire price just a year after I god the 2.

After skipping the iPad 1and2 I decided to get the iPad 3 and it's totally worrth it
