The 3G problems were fixed in 2.0.2, that is why people in rural 3G areas have no problems, in urban areas, idiots have refused to upgrade to 2.0.2, or they have jailborked using 2.0.1 as a template. Upgrading to 2.1 will fix most of the 3G and other iPhone issues.

Okay, yeah...I saw the part about the iphone update being available for free to iphone users...and did a double take.

It better d@mn well be free. :D
(I love my iphone...and wouldn't get anything else in it's place now. But if you advertise something as being a certain way and then release it subpar...there better be some refunding/updates/exchanges to make it right)

The ipods are cool, yes...ipods will always be cool.
but, where are the white ones? :p
 
This is ridiculous! Today was a terrific event with many exciting features. What'd you expect? Apple to do your laundry?!

And I'm hoping 2.1 fixes my sluggish screens. I'm tired of waiting 5 sec for my Contacts to come up. 'Bout ready to downgrade back to 1.1.4.
 
That sucked big time. Where is the cut and paste? MMS? GPS? I NEED GPS. Apple fans get your head out of your colective arses and try to be objective. I don't want to hear "if you have low expectations then you are always happy", I'm not Danish!

I love the iPhone but I need more - I need GPS.

I don't know whether you're being serious or sarcastic - the opinions here seem to be STRONGLY divided. I'm gonna have to guess sarcastic though.
 
No nike+ for the iPhone.
No 2.1 secret feature details.
No 2.1 (until Friday).

I was expecting these 3 things to happen (or at least 2 out of 3). Since they didn't, I'm a bit upset. :(
 
As long as certain sounds stop mysteriously disappearing (ie text, lock unlock) Ill call 2.1 a success
 
I wont say i was disappointed, i've experienced a few keynotes now and i know what to expect: Not much. Its just what you'd expect given their history which is iPod refresh in time for the holiday season
 
what the hell were you people expecting? The event went exactly how we all (at least anyone that has any grasp on reality) thought it would go. New ipod touch, new ipod nano, revamped ipod classic line, 2.1 software, new itunes.....

I was expecting/hoping for:

1) Improvements to GPS and possibly the release of a real GPS app (this had been discussed a while back that Apple was working on 2.1 and it would have improvements in GPS)
2) The ability to connect a Nike+ dongle......seems so basic...why wasn't this incorporated when the 3G was first released??? It doesn't matter if you are under the opinion that the iPhone is or is not the best product for this function, the functionality should be a bit of code since the standard iPod sync port is already present. It's a simple function that would make a lot of Apple customers happy.

Edit: Oh, and I wasn't expecting the headphones, but I am in the market for a new pair that have a mic and controls for my iPhone. Why in the world would Apple make a product that matches so perfectly with one of their top products but not make it work with that product?!?!?!?
 
Pretty much exactly what I was expecting. I did think the iPhone 2.1 update would be out today, but I can certainly wait a couple of days.

Nice update to the nano and the touch. Camera would have been nice for touch users, but Apple seems to be drawing the line there...

Dropping the 160GB classic was a bit of a surprise, but maybe they will add a new model with that new Toshiba 240GB drive that was announced today.

Nice to see NBC back. Still kind of bugs me to pay for shows I missed on TV and only throw them away after, but that never stopped me before. It's worth the $1.99/$2.99 to see them on the Apple TV. Watching them on the web stinks.

Everyone who was upset, seems to have thought this was more than a music event. No iPhone or computer updates scheduled for today...

Many are frustrated at the fact that Apple seems to have screwed over the iPhone owners to bump sales for iPod Touches. While these new features would've been nice features for the current iPhone owners...it is hard to be dissappointed in this event (what happened was exactly what most expected).

On the other hand, those who are frustrated have every right to show discontent with the company in general. Hopefully if Apple wants to continue to differentiate its products then the iPhone should get new features/upgrades next time.

Which features? I am pretty sure the genius thing will come with 2.1 update on Friday. In any case, I don't know if it is such a big deal. The volume control buttons already exist in iPhone. It has microphone already. The chrome back? Yeah, somebody is screwed all right...
 
It didn't disappoint me because I wasn't counting or doting on anything beforehand. I suppose that's because I'm not in the market for iPods at the moment, so my interest in the event was minor. I love the iTunes update though. :)

Which totally justified Apple hyping the even and telling the press it would be "something big".

Or not.
