According to Apple's spec sheet, it would appear that the 8GB model is the same one that's been out since last September, and the 32&64GB models are sporting a faster processor and more RAM capable of voice control, just like the 3GS.

On the bright side. I just saved a few hundred bucks on an expected upgrade from my 1st gen 8gb.

Pathetic. This is so incredibly disappointing, especially from Apple. That they would add all the upgrades the Touch should have had to a less advanced player and give us a worthless price shuffle instead is insulting at best. I have an iTouch 2G and I was planning on dropping another $300 to upgrade just for the camera and microphone. Now I doubt I'm going to spend a single dime on Apple for a while to come.

I totally agree. I will not upgrade now. I was willing to shell out $300 if they gave me some kind of worthwhile upgrade.

I am totally disappointed. Now my son is gonna cry because I am not giving him my 2gen ipod touch as I told him I would when I got a new one with a camera. Why? Because Apple could not find it in their heart to give me a solid upgrade.

Jobs should be ashamed of himself for hyping this up as it was. He just wants more money for old tech.

Bad job Jobs.:mad:

100% agree. I was planning on buying the new iPod Touch, but Apple just sh*t the bed! :mad:

Same here. Was already planning on running out to the Apple store after med school classes today. Nope, not any more! I honestly don't need double the space, and the faster chip would do what, exactly? I'm not having any performance issues.

:confused::confused::confused:
So the Nano gets a video camera but the Touch gets nothing?
WTF?
That makes NO sense to me. At all.
I've been saving up for this update and now I see no real reason to upgrade, besides the larger capacity.

I sure hope you're joking because this is pretty pathetic otherwise. I understand being disappointed in an update that is underwhelming, but letting some stupid pocket technology have this much of an impact on your life is lame.

I think it pretty funny as i was almost one of those guy who got really close on selling their current ipod.

first of all im kinda upset at the fact that the 16gb model is out.. i was actually considering that one. the 32gb is too much money in my opinion for 300 i can get a mini netbook... with more harddrive.. and ****.. and the 8 gig is getting somewhat small.

now the fact that most of you predicted a camera.. i thought it was pretty weird that apple would do such a thing because then what would be the point in getting and iphone.. when you can just get the ipod touch, with no montly charge!.
my question is most of u posted pictures of websites where they had cover with camera holes.. im guessing either they were fake or those cases are in the recycle bin right now.
a few days ago i saw someone by the user "Zune..." i forgot the rest and he mentioned how it was silly of apple doing such a thing and believe it or not he was right.. we all fell for apple! and belived in apple and im sure not only thousands but million's of people were hoping a camera to be added.. with microphone etc.. but i guess that will only be a dream!

i guess for those of you who sold your ipod its either get a used one or buy the 8gb because i think 32gb is incredibly big and just not worth the money! 16gb would of been so much better than keeping the 8gb.. im apple fan but this was such a let down! i guess ZuneHD can now somehow come up.

Why are 32 and 64 gig versions of the *new* iPod Touch shipping with earphones with remote and mic...? 8 gig isn't..

My guess is it's because the 8GB iPod touch is considered a cost-reduced version of a previous product - the hardware specs seem identical - hence they want to keep the same, lower cost accessories.

Whereas the 32GB and 64GB iPod touches are considered "entirely new" models due to the addition of the faster iPhone 3GS CPU and GPU, and the larger 256MB of RAM.

:eek::confused::mad::(:(:(
Such a disappointment! Even if it didn't sport a camera, but other features that I don't even know.... But for them to basically say Heres a new iPod... With cool headphones and yea! ENJOY!

But I can't help to think that there will be more. If they did have a complication with manufacturing, and it set them back a few months, maybe they will hold a small event for a new and improved iPod Touch.

I mean think about it, why would apple improve only the 32 and 64 gb models and leave the 8gb behind? Thats what doesn't make sense. It wasn't a full product refresh, it was a half-assed job, which leads me to believe that there is a REAL new iPod out there, but they cant make it available yet, but they had to do something.

I don't know. All I know is now I have $300 to spend on something else.... like school books, or a gallon of gas...
