This thread doesn't make sense. Winstonp you've just chosen peripherals to meet your price target of $1099. I could do this comparing a PowerMac 9600 (pre-G3) with a Dual PowerMac 2.5 G5 and claim "so this PowerMac hype is BS'. You've got to make a fair comparison, use same mouse, same ram, etc to compare it with the iMac... that is, if you are going to make a comparison at all.

Will you please remember that the mac mini is for people like myself, for example, who have a spare keyboard lying round, a mouse (most people have more than one anyway) and a screen. The whole point is that these items aren't worth a thing just lying around your house, as they do in many people's houses, but joined to a $499 box they are brought back to life... not any old life - a Mac Life.

So, stop making "BS" threads by taking things out of context completely and adding random peripherals to make it more expensive. Steve Jobs didn't say this is a new mac to replace your iMac/eMac/PowerMac - he said its a "second computer" along side your Windows PC, iMac/eMac/Powermac.

Which means that it was a refurb, therefore much cheaper.(correct me if I'm wrong)

And yes, I think this guy is missing the point of the Mac mini-Also, i've seen keyboards at micro center for $9.99(and a mouse for $5) 🙄

And the MS wireless USB keyboard/mouse can be had for $30 right now.

it actually was 1098 and I think an admin changed it.

This acutally happened to me. I paid the exact prices I listed. I'm just posting my mac mini experience...

While I could have bought that imac g5, it doesnt work for the reason I purchased a mini.

The mac mini isn't only for people with periphials lying around. I like it because it's a desktop I can take inbetween pittsburgh and Boston. It will fit nicely in my backpack.

(I also have a powerbook, but I prefer to use a destop as a stationary workspace when I'm home)

You all don't need to doubt my story, my prices are true. I just thought it was ironic that the prices lined up pretty close. I wasn't being serious about the whole "BS" thing.

Just a story, no need to be so defensive.

nice story though... but with a title like this in a Mac forum... you are definitely inviting criticism especially when this subject has been visited once too many times together with the not so balance comparsion.
