Can get one off ebay for $66 with delivery. What are they going for there, do you know if they work with a Nillkin glass screen protector?

ps what do you think of the call quality, guess it depend on your service. I can't believe how clear it is and the speaker phone too is great. Best i have had on a phone.

Lol. That's the exact screen protector I have. It's very good :) it was half the price of spigen SGP Glas.t but is exactly the same. 9h hardness and great oleophobic coating.

It should work with it, I'll let you know tomorrow. :)

The dot view is meant to be €39.99 here but the few places that have got it are charging around €55-60 ... (80-85 Australian) simply because they can.

Yeah I thought the Lumia 1520 had one of the best call quality I have had on a smartphone in a while, but the HTC M8 is just as good. Crystal clear for me and for the other side too. Even in black spots it managed to hold onto a signal (I'm very rural so there are a few black areas for reception around here).

Battery has been great too. I had over 3 hours screen on time today with 55% left in battery.

Thanks, i don't normally use screen protectors as i can never put one on with out bubbles and they always spoil the clarity, people are raving about the Nillkin here so thought i would try one, seeing as it has a lot more glass than my previous phones. It is suppose to be idiot proof as far as installing:p Time will tell.

For me call quality and reception is a first priority with a phone. If people can't ring me i don't eat :)

Can confirm the Dot View Case works perfectly with the Nilkin Glass Screen Protector

Samsung Galaxy S5

I can't believe I am saying that, but yes, S5.
I'm heading to Hawaii this weekend, and a water-resistant phone like an Xperia Z2 or S5 would be nice to have when I'm snorkeling. I generally look at Samsung as a rival as I root for the HTC/Sony camp. Reviewers and tech enthusiasts fawn over HTC designs but nobody buys them. Mass population buys Samsung for practical things like a removable battery. And Samsung being more popular is better for long-term resale value. HTC acts like a premium brand and has never been known for bargain prices. Samsung caters to all.

But the answer depends on your history and looking each brand's history and current/future status. I have the M7 and I want something different. I have to baby the M7 like a precious jewel. Not so with the S5 which isn't a headturner. And M7 overheats and the metal gives me electrical currents in my bloodstream. Last year, M7 was an easier pick to me over the S4 even though they were very close in ability with a few trade-offs. But the M7 and Sense 5 were fresh while S4 was a recycled S3 with little changes to TouchWiz and had many half-baked features. The HTC One didn't look like the One X and the skin was revamped.

This year, both HTC and Samsung are guilty of recycling last year's flagships. Neither companies are saints. They cheat benchmark scores. HTC never updated their 2012 phones last year. Not even for Sense 5! People are leaving HTC in droves since 2011 for bad customer service, battery life, and lack of software support. M8's glaring weakness is the camera like last year's. Not a huge improvement and no OIS. I think the M7's camera was one of the worst ever I ever had for a smartphone. HTC never corrected the purple haze.

If you never owned the M7 before and are happy with the M8 already and can live with a weak camera, stick to HTC since this company might finally be getting their act together. I love everything about my M7 except the useless rear cam for soft indoor shots and awful color reproduction. But some of the hardware advantages of the S5 seems to outweigh the advantages of the M8 right now.

S5 -
Water/dust resistance
Removable battery
Slightly smaller dimensions
Plastic is better for ruggedness
Better camera
Better repairability
Heart-sensor
Baby monitor
My Magazine (answer to BlinkFeed)
Low SAR
Samsung more popular = better resale

M8 -
Better design
Metal will always feel more premium
Better Android skin (Sense > TouchWiz)
Better external speakers

Screen display and battery life seem to be a push or preference thing. M8 now has a memory slot which Samsung phones usually have.

If you're a fashionista, M8. HTC is a gateway drug to Android for Apple lovers that appreciate great design. While not as eye-catching as its predecessor, M8 is still the best looking device of 2014 even over the OnePlus One/Oppo Find 7. If you're practical or outdoor-type, S5. It recycled more of the S4 Active even in design. The rear looks like a Band-Aid but at least Samsung got rid of the glossy, slimey plastic back prone to fingerprints.

What sucks is both Samsung and HTC will copy Sony and double-dip this year. Rumors of an S5 metal version and M8 Prime could be true. That's why better off to upgrade later in the year. M8 and S5 would be heavily discounted by then.

They are both good. I doubt you would have any regrets picking whichever.

Water certification is for clear water ... Not salt water. Salt water can do damage if you do not make double sure you wash off that salt before it dries on the device. Traces of salt water in worst case scenario, will void the hardware warranty that they promise with clear water.

I saw a size comparison video between the OnePlus One vs HTC One M8 vs Samsung Galaxy S5 vs Nexus 5 vs iPhone 5. The guy said he liked the screen from the S5 the best and liked the size. Now the M8 hasn't arrived in my country yet, but the S5 doesn't seem too large even though it got taller and wider than the S4.

I read the CNET article between M8 vs S5 and it seemed he enjoyed the cam and water-resist of the S5 when he went to Disneyland and its water rides. Water-resist is NOT A GIMMICK where I live where we catch rainfall more than Seattle. Anybody who saw the Typhoon Yolanda may not realize Philippines catches over a dozen typhoons every year.

Appearance fades. Performance lasts. And how many times has anyone been complimented because of the phone they have or what it looks like? And how many would even care? Reviewers are like David Pierce from The Verge or Apple fanatics from BGR or Gizmodo get "emo" about build quality and design. Metal isn't even the most practical material for phones. It dents. It scrapes. David Pierce and others simply emphasize on design and build quality over practicality. And so far, practicality like removable battery and easier repairability is winning in sales.

Well the M8 feels faster to me having both, and seems far snappier in every day to day usage. The S5 isn't a slouch by any means and the micro hiccups are curtailed hugely over the S4, but the M8 still feels faster even after I have turned off animations and debated my S5.

I have both and I like the feel of the back of the S5, first phone I probably won't worry about a case, I bagged the chrome when i saw in store but it gives some grip, the M8 is like 5S too slippery, I have a case mate barely there back cover on it or it would be scratched.

I stood In the rain to video my daughter playing soccer last night so the waterproofing is handy.
