So turns out iOS 9 is actually laggy

Ios 8 was very stable on my phone, safari and everything (but I am not going to repeat this statement every time someone says they had crashes, I believe them. 😉 ). Ios 9 is very stable too, but not so nice to use due to issues discussed here.

So all I want is ios 9 to be on same level with ios 8 what it comes to smoothness. Promised improvements would be nice surprise. 🙄

If only people would stick to the topic and not the posters, now that would be something. But it's hard to do when there's really nothing to contribute and and yet the desire is so strong that people just pointlessly turn on others. At the vey least you could at least get right what it is that I have mainly been challenging, but that would be too much to except as well I'm sure.

That's the problem. iOS 9.x devices are the only devices where I have this issue. I don't plan on adjusting my "global" habits just because iOS has an issue. I am just using those devices far less (iOS) than I was. Hope Apple fixes it soon.



in the world of software development THAT is one of the "set in stone" commandments. 😀

I didn't plan on adjusting my habits when iOS 7 came out, and neither did a lot of other people, and yet there we were and here we are.

At this point I would say that C DM and I7guy are clearly trolling us with their banter and offtopic comments.

I challenged I7guy to post a 60 fps video of very simple animation of activating Air Drop on 5S, 6, or 6S through control center. Now that option is which most people use daily to share files. But he conveniently ignored my challenge.

Everyone out there try the above scenario on your iPhones and can also report.

I think mods must look into the matter. What they are doing right now is the very definition of trolling.

Talk about off-topic! I am not having the lag or stutter on my phones. Sorry you are unable to accept this. I don't have to justify with a video my opinion of the way my iphone and ipad perform. And if you think this thread took a wayward turn there are ways to deal with it. And basically nothing new in this thread since page 1. It is, it isn't, it isn't for everybody, it is for some....etc.

If you don't want to post a video proof then refrain from commenting too. Without proof, you are inciting people here to comment against your statements. That's why it can be termed as trolling.

Umm. People give opinions in threads endlessly. Most of what is written on MR in myriad of topics is opinions. Aside from some of the ars technica articles, which was dismissed about ios 9 showing some performance gains, the focus has been on press an icon and measure the speed to which it opens. I use the ars article as some "proof" that ios 9 does indeed have performance improvements within and while there is some stutter in odd places..like the control panel in siri; it's only trolling because you decided to call it that. I really avoid this type of thing in the forum and it's clearly against the rules, but you seem to be doing what you are rallying against.

IOS is not perfect, it's never been perfect. You should know that. To say there is an stutter in one very ODD particular place, to most people where they are not experiencing it, is quite irrelevant (IMO), except to those who are looking for that high bar of perfection. Which will never be found in any software.

Its pure crap if you ask me and I can't see how the folks at apple haven't noticed and corrected it by now. I've submitted feedback to them. We are now up to 9.2 and still not corrected. One of my only two complaints with iOS 9, this and the awful stutter when using the split keyboard on the ipad.

It is really noticeable when you close an app and then try to launch another app immediately that has its icon on the dock.

Hey I've found remnants of the old iOS 8.4.1 (and below) behavior on 9.1! Open a folder. Now tap anywhere outside of the folder icon to get the fade/spring animation to get started then quickly tap any folder icon and it works like before but only on the folder icons! Isn't this weird?!? Why would they leave the folders like this and not let us do that with all the other springboard icons?! It's just gotta be sloppy programming! They need to let us tap the other icons again mid animation!

As much as i liked iOS 7.1.2 in terms of smoothness on my mini2, it's nothing more than a faint memory from over a year ago. Therefore i think it's time to let this "plenty of people would disagree argument" go. There aren't plenty of people using iOS 7 or iOS 6 anymore. According to Apple 67% of the App Store visitors are using iOS9, 24% iOS 8 and only 9% iOS earlier than 8 (including iPhone 4, which can't be upgraded). By now some people probably changed their mind (and possibly regret it), upgraded their devices (and couldn't downgrade!) or bought new devices (which came with iOS 8/9 preinstalled).

So most of those linked opinions are a thing of the past. And with the decreasing number of iOS6/7 installations, a lot of people can't make side by side comparisons anymore (unless they have some older device laying around). And even that wouldn't help in many scenarios, because the app/web environment has changed over the years. Those opinions have become irrelevant for the majority of devices. I'm not saying that iOS 8.4.1 didn't have any bugs/lags, but those old threads lead nowhere.

Saying it is better than iOS 7 is absolute rubbish. My father's iPad 2 is still on 7.1.2 and it is BLAZING FAST compared to iOS 9 on an iPad 2. iOS 7 renders animations properly 95 percent of the time. iOS 9 is lucky to do it 50-60 percent of the time. In iOS 7, apps pop open straight away, everything is faster, pages stay loaded in safari (more than in iOS 8 or 9), apps remain open in multitasking (are than iOS 8 or iOS 9).

I regrettably managed to accidentally update my main iPad 2 to iOS 9 and I hate it every minute I use it.

I think the point of this thread is that Apple promised improvements in iOS 9 and many of us have found the opposite and thus have provided evidence of slower performance, lag, stutter etc. I think every single one of us accept that people perceive things differently, but nobody here who claims iOS 9 is better, faster, more stable or anything that Apple promised has shown proof.

Where is the comparison of iOS 7/8/9 on any device that shows better performance?

I honestly don't care what people I don't know said about an iOS version of 2 years ago. I don't care about iOS 6 or 7 (iPhone 6 never used to run those anyway). I care about 8.4.1 vs 9.1/9.2/9.whatever. Please refrain from offtopic comments next time.
