Verizon does not throttle. They changed their TOS to give them the option to throttle if they want to sometime in the future, but they do not throttle at this point. Verizon is on record saying their network infrastructure does not even support data throttling at this point. Give it a rest now!

your article is dated feb 2011! VZW finally decided against throttling on May 24 2011. Pay attention!

Why are you quoting the same thing from Primejimbo for 3 posts in a row instead of simply multi-quoting like I just did?

Also even if Verizon says they don't have the infrastructure to throttle yet that doesn't mean they won't in the future.

Hell, ATT could just as easily say in a couple of months that "they don't have the infrastructure to throttle...yet"

Who cares though? The carriers (Both Verizon and ATT) will end up throttling grandfathered unlimited customers in the future. Thats all that matters.

As it states right in the article you linked, Verizon may throttle the top 5% of data users. Now AT&T decides to do the same to grandfathered unlimited users. Both carriers are now nearly identical in services, prices, and terms.

Again, my point, they change their minds and they probably will again (You mean to tell me a company changed their minds... oh no!!!). As someone said before they probably won't throttle the cap users (2GB, etc) but will the unlimited because the cap users will get get charged for going over. How do you charge unlimited people for going over?
Why are you so gun gun-ho on this anyways? If you don't have AT&T and have Verizon... good for you.

He must be a Verizon sales guy

I saw that too, so this guy doesn't even read the whole article

A quote for Cali4ever's link:

Earlier this year, however, Verizon said that for subscribers who use an "extraordinary amount of data and fall within the top 5 percent of Verizon Wireless data users," the carrier may throttle throughput speeds periodically for the remainder of the subscriber's billing cycle and into the next cycle.

And this is basically what the link that I posted said.....

I fall into this category...

"The move should actually be beneficial for most AT&T customers looking for stable performance and will only affect those who use much more data than the average customer according to the report."

So it doesn't bother me at all

You're sadly mistaken if you think your service will get noticeably better.

Browse the web at 4 AM and see how fast your speed is. Throttling the top 5% means you still have 95% of people trying to access the internet during peak hours. It's the large number of small data users and not the small number or large data users that's really the issue.

Question, why do people still have unlimited data on AT&T if they aren't ever going to use more than 2gb a month? A lot of people in this and other threads say they don't care about the throttling because it won't effect them, well why have unlimited then? Why not save $5 a month if you aren't going to use it? I'm just curious.

Verizon DOES NOT THROTTLE, there are plenty of folks on the LTE ThunderBolt forums who use 10 to 15GBs a data each month and they have never been throttled!

I thought about it, but I don't pay for my data anyway. My work pays for both my AT&T and Verizon data plans. Since I use both carriers, I'm not a fan boy for either. Both aren't perfect.

Because they don't trust the carrier. Why would AT&T just 'give' away the same service you already have for $5 *less* per month?

T-mobile tried to get me to switch from my regular data plan I go tin 2008 to an 'Android' data plan for the same monthly price in order for visual voicemail to work (which I already have through google voice). None of the service representatives would/could tell me what the differences were in the fine print, so I didn't switch.

I am reasonable certain that the new terms forbade things like tethering while reserving the right to lower transfer caps.

Actually he was right vzw is not throttling LTE users only 3G
