ughh..yeah mines not bad, i dont see the light bleed during the day, or out in the sun and i have to turn my brightness down to 30%. thats fine right? I also stopped using it at night, in a dark room, stopped watching movies, and keep the brightness down below 30%, thats all i have to do to not worry about seeing light bleed right? its such an off issue, can't believe people are complaining about it. so what if theres a light protruding through the black screen? deal with it, thats within normal spec. Just block the light bleed with your hand, DONE! <end sarcasm>

:D

if it sounds like you...it probably is.

But not one's really said that. I don't see any bleeding on mine when watching movies in dim rooms with the brightness at the default level etc. If I did, I'd want to exchange it right now or just return it.

But I don't and can only notice it with the brightness way up, a black screen displaced and in a totally dark room which for me are both things I never do, so I have literally yet to notice bleeding in normal usage and would have never noticed it at all if I hadn't read the threads on here and did the silly black screen, totally dark room test.

Others apparently have worse bleeding and use the iPad in dark rooms often etc. and notice it in normal use. And that's of course reason to be upset and want to exchange or return it.

I personally have not noticed any backlight bleeding at all with my white iPad 2. I have turned the brightness up several times in dark rooms and I don't notice anything.

Yup! Same here. I've even changed the backgrounds to all black.. Not seeing a thing. Must have gotten a lucky one :)

Yeah, I apologize for the rant, it may have not been said in this thread here, but its in similar threads I read it quite often. I guess its a precursor so that those people won't jump in here and say that...again.

Unfortunately I fell under the category of having a really bad iPad with backlight bleeding through. I'm just dealing with it for now.

I've not seen anyone in any thread post what you suggested though.

What people have said is that it's stupid to be OCD and worry about it if you ONLY notice bleeding when actively testing for it (100% brightness, dark room, dark screen). If you don't notice it at all during normal usage, and only during that test, then who cares?

If you do notice it during normal usage like you do, then I think everyone agrees that it's unacceptable and should be exchanged or returned as that's a major flaw.

But if it's literally never noticeable but during the test, like it is on many units, then there's no reason to worry about it as it doesn't affect usage of the device.

That's all anyone has said that I've seen. I've not seen anyone say that people should just live with the bleeding if they're seeing it while watching movies and other normal usage. That's absurd as that is a major defect in that case and is 100% unacceptable.

I've seen this issue on a lot of my electronics, and I just don't care anymore. If I don't notice it during normal use on mine when it comes in, I won't worry about it. (I am going to see if mine has the issue though, just so I know.)

I wasn't too bothered if mine had it or not when I hadn't noticed it during normal use I just tought if I didn't notice it then all was fine but I just watched a movie and noticed it is all the way along the left hand side of the screen even with the brightness set to 25% and it's pretty off putting when trying to watch a movie.

Went back to my local store, as I was sick of the staff on the phone telling me to reserve one online, when the Genius told me he would have one put aside for me.

Spoke to a lovely chap called Luke, he went out the back to check for any emergency stock (apparently they do hold some stock for swap outs and exchanges) and came backk to show me the slip as the storeroom guys told him my one should be in today!

He is going to call me around midday to verify it is in, and I will go there tonight after work (thank you Australian Late Night shopping) and pick it up, went and bought a gecko screen guard (premium) and will get him to install it for me.
