Got mine today!
1. It's thin, really thin. You thought the 2nd/3rd gen was a thin device- no. This is thin. It's about 20% thinner than my 2nd gen.
2. The screen rocks, just like you'd expect. Given, the viewing angles aren't what we see with the iPhone 4. But unless you're honestly trying to look at this thing from an obscure angle while upside down on Pluto, there is nothing to complain about. Images are sharp and text is crisp. I have yet to see what people are whining about with black levels.
3. It's blazing fast, I used to have to wait a long time for the App Store to open and load. Now, I just tap the icon and whoosh I'm there. This thing is blindingly faster than my 2nd generation and I love it.
4. The cameras, they are OK for me. I own a DSLR, I understand what good photography is and what good photos look like. Given, the cameras on the iPod touch 4 aren't DSLR quality, they are absolutely fine for the occasional Facebook or Twitter photo. The video is actually surprisingly good. There is little "sway" effect, and the colors are what you'd expect. I'm actually pleasantly surprised at the video recording.
5. I have no light leaks, no "clicking" in the audio of my recordings, and no battery drainage. For those with battery 'issues', double click your home button and close out all those apps that are running! I've been playing games, browsing the web, I typed a freakin' letter on this thing and emptied out my inbox and I still have over 95% battery life.
