Got mine today! :D

1. It's thin, really thin. You thought the 2nd/3rd gen was a thin device- no. This is thin. It's about 20% thinner than my 2nd gen.

2. The screen rocks, just like you'd expect. Given, the viewing angles aren't what we see with the iPhone 4. But unless you're honestly trying to look at this thing from an obscure angle while upside down on Pluto, there is nothing to complain about. Images are sharp and text is crisp. I have yet to see what people are whining about with black levels.

3. It's blazing fast, I used to have to wait a long time for the App Store to open and load. Now, I just tap the icon and whoosh I'm there. This thing is blindingly faster than my 2nd generation and I love it.

4. The cameras, they are OK for me. I own a DSLR, I understand what good photography is and what good photos look like. Given, the cameras on the iPod touch 4 aren't DSLR quality, they are absolutely fine for the occasional Facebook or Twitter photo. The video is actually surprisingly good. There is little "sway" effect, and the colors are what you'd expect. I'm actually pleasantly surprised at the video recording.

5. I have no light leaks, no "clicking" in the audio of my recordings, and no battery drainage. For those with battery 'issues', double click your home button and close out all those apps that are running! I've been playing games, browsing the web, I typed a freakin' letter on this thing and emptied out my inbox and I still have over 95% battery life.

The wait

I believe that I will wait to get a new iPod touch. I recently got an 8GB iPod touch during the Back to School promotion. The new iPod touch is really tempting to get but I do not like wasting products that I buy. The impressions are positive and persuasive. I may change my mind when the cases and screen protectors are available.

Can't wait till I get mine. Higher resolution and better performance (faster) is basically what I miss from my current 2nd gen iPod Touch. So this is gonna be great :D

No doubt about that.

I upgraded 2G -> 4G and it's been nothing less than fabulous.

last time i checked xbox,wii,ps3 arent thing you carry in your pocket?!? maybe if you said ds, psp?!? plus i like games on i pod i do multiplayer games on it like nova. xbox 360 multiplayer while at home.

I just don't see the point of gamecenter for an ipod touch. You would have to be on a wifi network to do so. How often are you away from home or work and want to play socially against friends and have access to wifi. Almost never. So when are you going to use it. When you are already at home? Thats my fault with the gamecenter for the ipod touch. It would work great for those with an iphone that can use it on 3g on the move but when you are limited to wifi it loses a lot of flexibility. That said I know some people prefer app games but I prefer the hd/surround sound experience that comes with a true console gaming system. But I guess for the casual crowd its a neat feature, it just doesn't work for me.

JUST got my Brand new iPod Touch 4G!!!! - Share Brand New iPod Touch 4G Experiences!

Thought I'd share it... it's sad I dont have a vid cam on my ipad to do facetime and don't have an iPhone since it's stupid ATT. Anyways I hope they release facetime for windows but this is AWESOME! Okay enough celebrating time to sync it up!

i got one too, two weeks ago, 64GB, but i haven't used it yet cause i don't want to scratch the shiny back on my new $400 MP3 player..lol :) i'm waiting for some cases to be released first. makes me angry that cases aren't available yet. i understand that apple keeps things secret resulting in 3rd party case manufacturers no being able to make any cases until a new device is released, but its just annoying. they should figure something out so there are some cases available when a new iPod Touch is released.

Coming from the 2g iPod Touch, I've been LOVING the new 4g! The speed, screen, improved graphics on games, the list goes on. The feature I'm most impressed with is the video camera. I went to a couple concerts over the weekend and was very surprised by the high quality. Especially the sound. I expected it to look good but was shocked how crisp the audio picked up. I posted two of the better ones below. Be sure to switch it to 720p!

Phoenix - 1901 - Jimmy Kimmel Live

Still camera - good enough for what I want.
Hd camera outstanding.

Not tried recording in quiet area listening for clicking sound.

All in all I am more than happy with it so far.
