I just want it to make phone calls, have a totally new look so it doesn't remind me of my crap iP4.

I want a new iPhone that I can enjoy, that I can rely on as a phone, and that just works.

There is no question Apple can do it.

But Will They - I have my doubts

One thing that hasn't been mentioned nut that I hope comes to ios5... Manageable photo albums!

Better notifications I think are a given. Not sure about widgets, would be cool tho.

Can't really think of much else, I'm quite happy with my ip4 as it is, it's easy to use and does everything I need.

I agree! Any changes to the Photo app are welcomed. I wouldn't mind the option of being able to name a photo after I take it, or move a photo from the camera roll to an album. Making albums on the fly would be nice too.

Less bloat.

iOS has become more and more bloated, even the iPhone 4 has slow animations, even though the iOS itself hasn't really changed visually, so there is no reason for it to be laggy like this.

This would increase battery life too, something that Apple would want, Android phones suck the juice, whereas iPhones don't even with iOS4 being fairly bloated

Widgets, live icons, better lock screen and better notifications are given.

But Google Maps on iPhone is a joke. I would love that to be improved.

Yes. I am sick and tired of people posting their hardware wish lists when the OP asked about realistic expectations in ios 5.
I call it RTFPost

ETA: I don't think you'd appreciate it if you needed help with your iphone, but someone posts, the iphone needs over the air synching in your post. That doesn't help your problem, now does it?

So who appointed you God of the forums? You really need to lighten up a bit. These "infractions" are not a personal affront to your manhood. Until you gave your snarky response, no one noticed (or cared) either way.

I don't know if Widgets would be a given. I would be surprised if we got them. iOS needs to keep going down it's own path, and not start adding features from Android. Well, that's just my opinion.

I just want a freaking notifications system that doesn't pop up in my face and interrupt whatever I'm doing at the time. Say, a small icon that sits in the status bar and blinks when you have a new notification. To open it, you can pull down a box with the various notifications in it. Is this sounding familiar? Oh, wait...

if it hasnt been mentioned already, i would like to see folders within the photos app, hate having to scroll through hundreds of pictures to find the one i want. Give us folders so we can organise it better!

I wish I knew whether this would be included or not. I am tasked at work with purchasing something to manage photo albums for all of our iPhones. If it's going to be standard in the next iOS, why spend all that money for something like Photoshop Essentials when it might be free soon? (Well, hopefully soon...)

There are some good apps out there for jailbroken phones, but since these are work phones, jailbreaking is not an option.

I'm not expecting much, small improvements here or there, which will do me fine.

So I dont get sucked into mindless twaddle like the post I've quoted.

im expecting big things with iOS5, i reckon Apple have gone all out and will present us with some major improvements.

I don't think Apple would make IOS 5 a centerpiece of the WWDC if all they were going to do was add "small improvements here and there".
Now whether what they add will be the things people are clamoring for remains to be seen...

exactly, dont forget we might not be seeing a new iPhone at all so Apple will need to compensate with something huge, iOS5 could potentially be that something huge.

Maybe Apple dont even need to release a new iPhone BECAUSE iOS5 is going to be massive....
