I don't have one yet, but I'll be running Logic Pro, Ableton Live and other music making programs on it, that require a lot of power and memory. I'm also a hobby photographer and would be using Lightroom 3 and Photoshop 5.

So I (not so patiently) wait for the new mac

(so that the older once may drop in price a little enough for me to get one)

The Mac Pro can provide so much power, 16+ GB of RAM, multiple graphics cards, 8 core processor, many TB's. So it makes me wonder, why do you need all this? What do you use it for? Probly sounds like a dumb question...

Nothing that I couldn't do on a current iMac 😛 .

professional audio work. I do not have one at home but we have about 5 at the studio. usually using the mps as the host and have multiple pcs hooked up as slaves.

I'm a composer in the classical tradition. I bought my Mac Pro to serve as a host for the Vienna Symphonic Library, a massive sample set used to replicate the performance of an orchestra. There isn't a great deal of audience support for new classical music, so I actually chose to get a Mac Pro for budgetary reasons, as hiring an orchestra or large ensemble for recording sessions is agonizingly expensive. I use the sample set to generate the large instrumental groups, record the solo and vocal performances, and meld and balance them together in Logic.

High definition video editing, gaming (yeah I know, you can shut the **** up now), photo storing, photo editing, that kind of thing.
