It's just a little plastic zip-loc bag. You have to have the right amount, as follows:

$50 in $2 coins OR
$20 in $1 coins OR
$10 in 50c/20c/10c (single denomination, no mixing)
$2 in 5c coins.

I thought Australia was on the British pound system. Seriously, that's what I thought.

You do realise you can't take the bus from where you are to where I am don't you? Please tell me you know that at least - I hate to think what they're teaching you guys in school.

EDIT: Personally I wish we could go back to when rum was the official Australian currency - I'm serious, it really was.

I went to a small venue last night and saw Brand New... and it was AMAZING. Most of my friends stayed in the seats, but I went up to the pit because, lets face it, thats where all the fun that. I managed to make it up to be the third person back a little left of the singer, which was impressive considering the amount of people I had to get through. The two bands that played before Brand New were really good, but for the life of me I can't remember their name (bummer, as I wanted to get some of their stuff).

I came home so sweaty that I could wring it out of my shirt, and probably 75% of that sweat wasn't mine. It was all worth it though... Brand New rocks

I spent most of yesterday travelling on trains from Paris to home in Wales.
I got back at 10pm so I had a couple of vodka and cokes then went to sleep.

Yesterday (Sat.) we spent a few hours shopping for a couch, came home for a nap, and went downtown to the Taste of Chicago. Fun times. Next Saturday will be spent moving into my new place.

Indeed they do! I've just recently gotten into them, listening to some Deja Entendu. The first 6 songs are really excellent.

Bah, that sucks mate.

I've got a litre of Baileys staring at me now, think I might just partake in a little nip.

my partner and I went off to a health spa in the winelands mountains..

No TV, no radio, no Macs, no broadband, no heaters (its winter in the southern hemisphere), no pollution

saturday night was bracketed by a 1.5 hr deep tissue massage on saturday morning and a 1.5hr hot-rock massage on sunday morning.

some one remind me - whats this work stuff I'm supposed to be doing today?

They're plastic. You can't rip them unless there's already a small tear from scissors or something. You can wash them, dry them, pretty much anything.

Each denomination is 7mm longer than the one below it so blind people can tell which one they're holding and they're really bright colours too.

Very hard to counterfeit too, bits of them are transparent, there's microprint all over them (the $10 bill has "The Man From Snowy River" by Banjo Patterson - who is on the bill - in microprint behind his image), random line art, security tags and UV fluorescing bits. Pretty sure they're the most advanced notes on the planet.

Our money's so advanced it washes the dishes for me after dinner.

Okay, so clearly us Australians don't have much else to be patriotic about.
